Alan Birchenall was a useful player, but by no means our best. However, when asked to name an all time favourite Blades side I nearly always include him. This is because in his first 4 appearances against Wednesday he scored 6 goals against them. That gives him legendary status in my book.

Let's hope Leon Clarke can emulate him. That said, if we are fortunate enough to go up, he'll have to get 4 in the January return fixture. I don't want to meet them in the play offs. Don't think my heart could take it!

Tony Curries testimonial. V Dennis Waterman showbiz 11. George played on showbiz side, I believe. Probably pushing it slightly, to say he was wearing a blades shirt. But it was at Bramall lane.
