Everyone says it a marathon and not a sprint which is correct . When you watch a horse race it's always the horse that comes from behind that wins not the one in the front . There is a lot of football to be played before May time so as my title says have we peaked to soon !!

Comparisons have been made with the Steve Coppell's Reading side in 2005/06. Must have been about now (October) that they took top spot and retained it very effectively until the end.

I know what you mean about peaking too soon. I never liked us scoring too early. So many experiences of us falling away and end up losing.

But at Hillsborough and at Elland Road this team continue to dispel all the old fashioned beliefs.

I hope your right perhaps we're going to romp the league , but I have been a blade far too long , I am so proud of the team at the moment , so excited , I just get the feeling it's all going to fall apart but every time they take to the field they take my breath away with the standard of football and the team spirit and as for brooks , nothing seems to phase him , he's is an unbelievable football talent !!

Hopefully not.

But if we have if have rather peaked too soon then never to have peaked at all.

I think half of Wilders post match interview was to keep everyone level headed.

Onwards and erm....stay where we are. (Can't say upwards give we can't get any higher)

No we haven’t. We are top for a reason and have shown we are capable of maintaining this so called ‘momentum’. Your horse analogy is spot on, a slow start last season and this then coming through the field to first place.

The points need accumulating. We have 30 in the bag already. If we stay on this form that should see us up around promotion. If we do hit a bad streak of form they can’t take the points off us. I can’t see us suddenly being incapable of getting any points. We still have some good players who are not getting a game and possibly upcoming youngsters and JTW. It looks pretty positive to me. Onwards and upwards.

In a parallel universe when you swap these fixtures: Cardiff, Middlesbrough, Derby, Wolves, Wednesday and Leeds, with six shitters, then maybe I'd say yes. But the only team that worries me (and that we haven't already played) is Aston Villa.

We'll be consistent all season and have a better idea of what that consistency means after twenty games. But I think that poor gamblers would bet against us being promoted.

We have 30 points from 14 games.
In the previous 4 season, the team in 2nd place has had to accrue more than 86.5 points.
For us to hit that target, we'd need to win 19 games from our next 31 games.
In a games to points ratio that is under 1.79 points-per-game (and we've all seen Wilder's record)
(If you wanna talk playoffs, we need another 13.5 wins from 32 to secure that)

Even if you factor in a blip, we can still conceivably achieve that. Unless the players really are pub league and suddenly turn into shitters, which I think is less likely. I know some people believe in fate and jinxing things, but I think the numbers point to a very good season and I think our great start has already guaranteed us play-offs.

Nah. Wilder will be continously identifying any room for improvement. We're going to get better

94/93 93/89 90/89 102/93 87/79
Points got you automatically promoted to the Prem over the last 5 years. We're ticking along nicely and its points in the bag IMO.
More to the point the point I'm trying to make is we're playing well and if we can get the next 6 games out of the way picking up an average of 2 points a game that will see us on 42 points from 20 games. We'll not be far away come May.
So there's no point whittling about it.
Do you get my point ?

Just don’t see Chris Wilder letting top spot go now. Sure there’ll be a bit positional argy bargy with those around us but now the squad has shown Chris what they’re capable of I think he won’t let them slip.far away.

Wilder won’t let complacency set in.

After 14 games last season Newcastle had 31 points & Brighton 29. We’re on track

Or to put it another way...

...a random team with 17 points from 14 games have to win 24 from 32 just to get close to automatics...our bubble isn't bursting, theirs has burst.

Wilder doesn't let go of top spot. We got there last season and stayed there.

We got there on Friday and managed to stay there Saturday.

The city is ours again and the world is our oyster.

How many loyalty points will we need for Real Madrid away season after next?

Hopefully not.

I don't think we've peaked too early and Wilder was right to criticise on Friday as I think we gave the ball away more cheaply than any game I've seen this season! One occasion was when our fans were halfway through Coutts never gives the ball away and he did just that and Leeds nearly punished us so we can improve!
