Do Wilder's Blades play better quality football than England?

A band of strategically shaved monkeys, three goats, a pair of parakeets and a stuffed crocodile would play more attractive football than England. Every set of qualifiers sees England through to be humiliated at the next tournament by footballing titans like Iceland, Farm Foods, Narnia, Mordor and the Isle of Sodor. Fucking execrable tedium watching a gaggle of overpaid mardy buffoons fuck up like they’ve never fucked up before. Get ready for the abject displays in Russia next year, because you know they are coming.

That was fucking wank. Technically limited players knocking heavy passes about at half-speed for 85 minutes. Makes me appreciate what we have at present even more.

Southgate clearly phoned Wilder in desperation around the 85th minute, switched to 3-5-2, & forced a winner through (the otherwise useless) Kyle W.

Kyle looked a lot better when he had someone in front of him actually showing for the ball.

  • Would any of us rather have Coutts and Fleck than Henderson & Dire (spelled like this on purpose) in our England team? Henderson is like a poor man's Coutts & Dire is remarkably like Hammond under Atkins.
Thankfully we get to enjoy the fruits of our Scottish stars in our team. Gordon Strachan doesn't know what he is missing, he must be judging them on their pre Wilder performance

Nothing to do with Southgate, it's been this way under all previous managers.

This England side and squad is the worst we've had in decades. We just don't have the players.

Wales are better for me. So boring watching England every game its the same. As blades, We have all been spoilt with quality football under Wilder and that’s what we are used to watching now. All together, I don’t really care for international football, blades always come before England.

I first went to England games at Wembley in the 70s. They're my team. Will be when I die. Thick n thin. Way it should be. Happy with the win. 38 games unbeaten in Qualifiers. Lots of countries already binned out of the World Cup wishing they were in our position.

They are my team too by virtue of being born English. That said, they are shite. They play a tedious brand of slow football that is so far removed from our leagues that it is untrue.

Top marks to Ball_Sup (Phil) for the defence but you are pissing in the wind pal.
England to win the WC or Blades to go up? Absolutely no brainer, Blades all the way.

Overpaid pampered rabbits in the headlights verses a proper team?

Come on Phil, admit you are on a wind up?

Not on a wind up mate. I'm a football fan. Love it when my team win. Always have. Always will. I don't expect England will play in the Championship any time soon. And I don't expect United to play any World Cup Qualifiers in my lifetime. Happy to support both these teams with all I've got..

Great rivalry v Wales. Proper hostile atmosphere every time we go to Cardiff. That said. I'm 58. We've lost to 'em three times in my lifetime. The last one was in 1984. It is now 2017.

Just so everyone gets the message. I don't buy this Blades always come first caper. England won't play The Blades. So, why choose?

Blades will always come first for me in Club Football.
England will always come first for me in International Football.

I'm content...

Southgate is about as technically competent as Carlos in a derby match !

"Better quality" is an ambiguous phrasing. Pretty obvious any of the England squad would walk into our first eleven...

We're certainly more entertaining. But that's not saying a lot, because international football is dying.

The top European domestic clubs select from the best players worldwide. International sides select from the best players nationwide. Clearly, the domestic teams have the advantage.

The Champions' League is a far better standard than the World Cup. And the WC qualifiers are an absolute joke. There's teams like Malta, Andorra, and the Faroe Islands involved. Why even bother with those games? Certainly not because they make for great entertainment for the fans. England have just walked through the qualification stages again in spite of having been our typical dull selves.

You have millions of pounds worth of talent at your disposal. You give them to Gareth Southgate. Meh!

With today's prices, England might be pushing a billion's worth.

Kane alone would probably get at least £100 million if sold tomorrow, similar for Rashford I reckon, Walker just went for £50m, Ox £35m. It adds up, and yet England are fucking dire.

The list of things I would rather do than see England play are too numerous to list.

Does the bear shit in the woods?

Is the Pope a Catholic?

Do fat babies fart?

Having just looked at the England team lineup from last night if that's the best we can do then even the Sun and Mirror can't claim "it's our year" next year.

In my opinion, after watching the game so far tonight, then definitely yes.
Southgate hasn't got a clue.
Southgate is useless. Wilder getting the best out of united but they have heart and spirit.

Of course England unbeaten in the qualifiers so that means we're going to win the World Cup.... until we face real opposition in Russia

Its obviously a different calibre of footballers on show, but in their respective competitions, yes - United play better, more entertaining and more cohesive football. United are clearly more of a team than England are. And more than most premier league teams are for that matter.

Oh and whilst we're at it, regardless of calibre of footballers on show. As things stand, Brooks is just better than Oxlade-Chamberlain. Full stop. More exciting, more energetic, more positive, more unpredictable. Just better.

Blades have always played better football than England. I couldn't give a damn about the national team, not one jot. If we ever get beyond a quarter final with England I might just perk up some interest, but otherwise...no thanks.

I was actually thinking of posting Would the current blades team, without Rashford, beat Slovenia comfortably? But that was too easy to predict.

Not a chance. Slovenia would beat us extremely comfortably. England would hammer us.

Slovenia's line-up last night transferred to club teams is:

Atletico Madrid
Palermo - Zenit - Chievo - FC Ida
Darmstadt - Nantes - Goztepe - Copenhagen
Atalanta - Bielefield
So 3 Champs League players. And 9 of them all play in their respective top flights.

That three that came on play for Chievo, Caen and Vitesse. So another 3 top flight players.

It's no more difficult than domestic football is it? Or have I underestimated it?

Of course it is. In that the best players are picked. As I just pointed out above. Even Slovenia players all play in top European Leagues, many play in European competitions too. They're not shit players anymore. Now that travel has become so much easier and the amount of money that there is in football, these smaller nations are producing players that are good enough, they probably always were but scouts never picked them up back then.
10 years ago, the Slovenian team would have all been home based no doubt and we would've put 5 past them. But they are all training and playing with world class players now, week in week out.
An example of how this helps your progression would be to look at Calvert-Lewin - many weren't fussed when he left. A year in 1st team training with a top flight team and he's knocking on the door for an England call up.
