Ha Ha Ha
We signed Donaldson
But his zimmer frame almost put the kibosh on it. McCabe said we couldn't afford it

Well, he got Chris Wilder to say it

Pace and power watching the Burton Birmingham game last week he doesn't look to have lost either

He's still a very decent Championship striker. Experienced and has kept himself in great condition. It's a great signing for us. Good partner for Billy.

Fucking bullshit , he wanted to come but yet again for the 4th time we tried to haggle the fuck out of the deal. Upmost respect for McCabe for everything he's done , but honestly it's time he sells and fucks off. He hasn't got the money to fund us anymore , Can't even agree a fucking fee with Fleetwood

Even if we did all this a month ago they wouldn't have sold him to us until they got their replacement in who went to Walsall instead if hey had then got a replacement in would we still be in for Cole

The owners of the club are pathetic,
But they're also very clever, they have convinced a large proportion of our fan base that buying good players for decent money is the road to ruination, and they try to use our "FRIVOLOUS" past to justify it.
"FRIVOLOUS PAST"
Seriously !!!!!
There was a time about 9 years ago when in the Championship we competed with other Championship clubs.
We COMPETED with them, there was nothing FRIVOLOUS about it except for the fact that they gave a BIT of money to a crap manager

I've only got one
That is for United to get in the real world in the transfer market,

Every club must think "My God what a bunch of numpties. do they realise it is 2017" "OMG that bunch of retards aren't back again are they"

We've been handed our arses to us by FOUR THIRD DIVISION CLUBS, Charlton, Southend, Blackburn and Fleetwood because the club have tried to use the same logic that they preach to the fans "If a club from a higher division wants you, well then that's it, just accept it"

Well they haven't rolled over and accepted it

I'm so pleased you're not the Chairman.

We'd either be in the PL (doing a Bournemouth) or in league 2 for many years (doing a Portsmouth).
The club is on an upward curve, so why make unnessary desperate risks. Do you think it's a good idea to pay over £1 million for untested 3rd division players and make them the highest earners at the club.

Also the millions you refer to are still there, at the club and still available to spend.

What's the going rate for a striker that has only just started scoring frequently in League One?

A half decent division 3 striker is worth £500,000, maybe a little more
But it depends how long is left on their contract.

The Neymar Jr to PSG for 200 million seems to have distorted the whole market.
So maybe league 1 teams think they can get £5 million for a striker now?
However I'd expect the market to normalise in the next window.

In which case we offered more than the going rate by the sound of things. I heard that over £1m was offered and for a striker that has only just started to show something on a consistent basis, that's a lot of money. Demonstrates that we believe in the player's potential and that we were serious about signing him.

The market is currently distorted and clubs can expect to receive more than their normal valuation.
Maybe Fleetwood thought we'd buckle and keep coming back with bigger offers.

If Fleetwood don't gain promotion then they'll regret not taking the offer.
Wonder how long Cole's contract is for? His agent will be wanting a big pay rise if Fleetwood value him so highly.
Also maybe his form might now drop knowing his club blocked such an attractive move for him.

There isn't a 'going rate'. There are individual transactions for individual players. You buy for as little as you can; you sell for as much as you can. Usually there's a compromise but sometimes, especially in the absence of competition it's 'no deal'.

For some, this false 'going rate' principle is simply a device to spend as much of other people's money as it takes. Easily done, that.

Absolute bollox. The deal was done. Then Fleetwood played silly buggers at 10.50pm.

Don't blame Wilder or the club or Cole on this one. Blame the agent for delating the Fleetwood for going back on the deal.

Do we know it's Cole's agent that was the problem here? My understanding was that the problem was the deal for Cole's replacement falling through, presenting Fleetwood with the option of selling him and leaving themselves short, or keeping him and not leaving themselves short.

I think the agent was pissing about hence it went till 10.50. But Fleetwood backed at after agreeing. Presumably as the didn't find a replacement.

Our negotiators clearly think they can take the piss every time.

Unfortunately, they can't.

Hopefully that's one lesson learned for January.

We never learn this costly lesson ...... its the Blades-way !! :(

Our negotiating team are hand-picked for their inability. o_O

But ....... we all know that when a higher Division Club comes calling ...... you have no choice but to sell ..... :tumbleweed:

We've been told that ...... several times ...... haven't we .... o_O

And yet we have signed 10 players this summer

But when we got to the crunch ...... and we know what we need to compete in this Division ..... it all falls apart o_O

I know a few of you guys are eternal optimists ..... but we really do make life difficult for ourselves :(
Nobody sensible is expecting us to spend stupid money ....... but we do need quality in all areas of the pitch and we have the funds to do it ...... provided they are made available ..... :tumbleweed:

How much did we sell Che Adams for because he wasn't exactly prolific ? That should give you an idea .

Plus, Peterborough have sold many, many players for extortionate amounts from yes, you've guessed it, league one. A million quid for a 22 year old who has the potential to improve dramatically is absolutely fuck all in this day and age. If we'd have made a bid that Fleetwood couldn't turn down then they'd have accepted no matter whether they got someone in or not. Oh well, we've got Donaldson now who will do well for the short time he'll be here.
