i note that derby have been allocated 2393 tickets for the match at BDTBL, is this B lane upper or lower and subsequently are blades allocated the alternative?
Anyone any ideas how many seats are allocated to "mesh" as it seems to get a v good view having not paid anything for its tickets

Looks like all away fans will be in lower this year....I suspect the club will hedge their bets however, depending on how we are doing. if we are struggling and attendances drop to low 20's I can see the mesh coming back to BLUT and the away fans being given more, especially for the visit of the likes of Villa, Sunderland etc who would no doubt sell out.

That said there is the safety issue as well.....can't see Wendy, Leeds and probably Barnsley being given any of the Upper, no matter what the circumstances are.

This year we're giving away fans the bottom tier as the plan is that home fans can use the BLUT.

The lower tier holds 2,990 but last season due to safety issues we were only allowed just over 2,100 in there.

It looks like the Saftery Committee have agreed to us selling a few more increasing the safety limit to 2,393.
That's well short of the 2,999 capacity though with 500 seats netted off (250 each side near both corner flags).

For comparison purposes last season Bradford totally sold out the bottom tier and brought 2,109 supporters.
Bolton sold out the top tier and brought 2,281 supporters.

I'm sorry but having 500 seats netted off instead of selling them is absolutely fucking ridiculous.

What is the point in having seats we aren't allowed to use? There'll be over 30k in for the visit of Derby and their fans will sell out that allocation long before general sale. Where is the justification for missing out on £12,000+? Just to stop the possibility of 1 or 2 Derby fans encroaching on the area in front of the seats (not even the pitch) if they score. It's a joke.

Also I would expect the South stand and John Street bottom corners (near the corner flags) to be netted off too.

Sheffield Wednesday have the same problem but it seems much worse there.
The Safety Committe close off 8,000 seats at Hillsboro making them unavailable for sale.
Although I believe their concourse areas are smaller making quick stadium evacuations difficult.

Yes I agree with you in principle here.

What appears to be happening is, during the 2nd half of last season the SAG started to relent on our attendances and started to see if fans could be trusted again. It appears as though we are doing ok, but probably not quite enough to satisfy the SAG totally. It may be a case of seeing how it goes. It may also be that Derby could have more tickets if they sell out. If as suggested there are 2 areas netted off either side then it may be an extra 250 are released on SS side first and if they go then possible release the 250 on JS side.

It would be nice if the club/SAG actually let fans know what is happening so that we could all understand - sadly, this doesn't seem the case.

Can the IDIOTS (and we do have some) behave on Bramall Lane AFTER the game. We are still on trial it seems.

It's nothing short of pathetic, embarrassing, infuriating, and frankly pointless.

What's changed since the Prem season when this wasn't an issue btw?

Lines of stewards or a couple of rows of seats for other big games around the country. Even the auld firm games I've seen doesn't have worse segregation inside the ground.

If anyone says it's because of April 1989 I'll scream

I can't see why we can't just have the line of stewards as at the Manchester derby but if not why can't we sell the netted seats to folk who would get concessions anyway and make them cheaper still to encourage take up. Something better than nothing. Its been a while since I've seen OAP's from rival fans having a scrap bashing each other over the head with their thermos flasks and blankets.

My mathes can't be that good.

It's 600 empty seats in the lower tier not 500.

2,293 tickets is Derbys final allocation, assume this figure will apply to Villa, Sunderland, Leeds and Wednesday too.

You know if the police/stewards actually did something useful like crowd control then we could have 2,900 in the lower tier with no segregation on the JSS or SS.

The problem with extra police is the cost. Bussing them in from North Yorkshire or wherever and them having to polish up the steel wall they like so much would cost more than the extra revenue from 600 seats.

That's probably why we don't do it but it's really frustrating.

Loads of coppers from Durham policing Pigs v Fascists yesterday.

I thought we'd cash in and give teams BL top and bottom.

SYP would have kittens if we did that. Westfield corner netted off for starters, wings of SS and Family Stand, wings of BL lower. Probably about 4k seats in total in the name of segregation.

Excellent idea South Bucks, maybe the club could look into this...

We can't really do that because they'd be complains from the home fans.

For the Brentford match there's currently about 10 tickets left on the South stand
And only about 300 left in the Westfield corner
We've also started selling a few in the BLUT.

So if we give away fans both tiers we wouldn't have quite enough room to satisfy demand from our own fans.

I may be wrong but think that'll be unlikely with season tickets sold for the corner. Appreciate they can segregate. The Derby game is an indicator. Large away following but blut been given to Blades.

As mentioned earlier while demand remains which depends on season we're having then think Blades will have all top tier and corner. Should help atmosphere as well.
