Player Suggestion Marcus Edwards

Just watched this...

He's obviously not the finished article but looks like he'll give us something different...

Huge pinch of salt. Read the other tweets.

The Tweeter in question appears to be typing a right load of old bollocks.

I know that the rumour is without substantiation, but looking at the clip it's a player like him we should be after. I'm glad Wilder knows that what we really are lacking at the moment is somebody who can take players on, get around the back and create goal scoring opportunties. We can be a bit easy to defend against at times without that variation to our play. Such a shame Harry Chapman suffered that cruel blow, I think he'd have become a big player for us.

Bullshit account but it's not at all far fetched that we'd be interested in him as a direct replacement for Chapman.

I think I suggested him in pre season as he will be the biggest thing to come out of Tottenham. Shame it's probably bullshit

I know its fake, but am I missing something here. Why do we always presume that when it says SUFC its us.
I could easily mean Scunthorpe or Southend (Which in this case would be more probable) if it was true.

I'd hazard a guess it's because it says @SUFC_tweets which is our Twitter account!!

It says he's joined SUFC

Maybe it's Southend, as we obviously cannot compete with them

It's a child/teenager's twitter account to report their exploits on a video game.

Before realising this I did watch the highlight-reel and have a short conversation about how good a signing he'd be, which is embarrassing...

18 year old attacking midfielder/winger from Tottenham, compared to a young Messi by Pochettino. Ridiculous pace, beats people for fun and now on the fringes of the 1st team. I really want to see Brooks given a chance but this could be a good loan option?

I didn't think Poch liked loaning players out. He prefers to keep them at their Lane. He might though given the quality of our player development but I think it's highly unlikely.

That is true but we did develop a player they're potentially about to sell for £50mil so that has to count for something. Not to mention Naughton who they sold for £5mil. Maybe slim, but I think this could be a possibility and would be a right coup.

Yes, hence my comment 'the quality of our player development'.

As BB points out, Tottenham (amongst other PL clubs) are reluctant to send players out on loan - especially those under the age of 20, like Edwards.

Great player though. We (England) don't have a particularly good track record of producing flair players like Edwards, let's hope he bucks the trend.

Chelsea had 36 players out on loan last season, at least 25 of which under 20. Tottenham had around 10 out on loan, 6 of which under 20, Man Utd had at least 10 out (1 of them to us) and so on.. Don't get me wrong they would be very selective in where to send him but I do think it's a possibility.

Yeah let's hope so! There's a few exciting players coming through the England ranks at the moment.

Touché on the research, though I wouldn't use Chelsea as an example, as their loan system seems to be more focused on finances rather than player development.

As for Spurs, I hadn't realised they had that many kids out on loan. I dare say that the most valuable youngsters stayed with Tottenham though. I think it's more likely that they were in the shop window as opposed to being thought of as future stars.

To be fair Blackwell deserves most of the credit for their development.
