cheds first crack at being a championship striker with good service
If we can feed him like we did in 2011 and it rekindles the fire inhis belly of that season , we are in for a treat

will sharp and evans get near matching Deane and Aganas season in the championship

we can only hope it gets somewhere near
but CW does not try and defend in games so its going to be fun

Why does everyone seem to think Evans is a nailed on 1st team starter. Until he can prove otherwise he's fifth choice striker with everything to prove, including his fitness.

In context he's had one good season in his entire career and he's now 28... so let's not get ourselves over excited just yet!

Rhodes is a good signing but not in the team set up that Wendy preferred while he was there, which from what I heard and brief snippets I could tolerate watching, seemed to be very rigid and trying not to create any chances. If they amend that approach he'll score more. They will also concede more. I think they will continue to waste him.
Exactly! It's like painting over rust. It may keep a few people happy and look nicer, but it's a short term fix.

I think with the creativity we had last season, if we get close to that in the championship then Billy and Ched will get a lot of goals

But ched needs to be fit and we need that creativity otherwise we'll have another Rhodes... although Ched takes pens

I dont think fitness will be a problem
look at how fit some players were last season compared to the previous one under Adkins
players who looked like they couldnt run ran for 98 minutes
knilly will have him as fit as a fiddle

I'm sure the fitness programme will help him but it took Clarke and Lavery most of the season to shake off niggles and get up to speed. Hanson and carruthers from JTW didn't hit the ground running either

As long as the tuna man is willing to bankroll their losses they'll be fine.

The problem for us was that McCabe wouldn't or couldn't bankroll us once the parachute payments went so he sold any player he could get a fee for.

There is nothing wrong with spending big sums of money if you have a good owner e.g. Chelsea and Man City, it's when you have a crap owner e.g. Portsmouth that you have to worry.

Time will tell if Wednesday have a good one or not, so far he's been very good for them unfortunately.[/QUOTE

Good for them?,in what way,he has ripped the fans off with his pricing policy and achieved nothing in terms of the promised promotion, they have gone backwards from his initial first season, and now they have a squad full of overpaid mercenaries

Very good for us,certainly not them

Albeit one that hasn't cost us £10m.

I'm sure Rhodes will score more - but I'm also sure he won`t on a pound for pound basis. For this season Billy e al should be good enough, but there may come a time when we want to be challenging that we need to spend more (not 10m) to get/prevent that extra 3-4 goals that see us challenging...

I think a lot of our fans want Ched to fail just so they can say they were right.

Never mind Ched what about Clarke? When he finally got fit towards the back end he was on fire and this squad is perfectly balanced for him. If he keeps fit I can't see him playing 2nd fiddle to Billy or Ched.

They've gone from a midtable/relegation team to making the play-offs two years in a row, purely from a football perspective they are in much better shape.

Saddled with a serial failure of a manager after extending his contract, players who are ridiculously overpaid and seemingly don't care about the club, have failed dismally in the play offs 2 years on the trot, fans priced out of matches,Chairmanship name on the shirts and stand, making there own shirts next season,if that was United you would be up in arms,

Look at the tables before and after the investment, like I said from a purely results point of view they are in a much better position.

And?,they are in the same league as us next season, getting into the play offs 2 years on the trot bottling it 2 years on the trot has done them no good

they all got injured during the season, cant help that ,

Has to be Rhodes for me sad to say it.

Really hope it works our for Ched, but i have low expectations.

i was going to post -
what is the point in asking a blades forum "who is going to score more, a blade or a player for our hated rivals?" - bit like asking "who would you rather baby sit your kids? Mother Theresa or jimmy Saville?"
but having read the replies Rhodes gets quite a few votes, what a jolly honest/pessimistic bunch of chaps we are...
Billy btw.

Clarke has failed in the Championship at Wendy's, QPR, Wolves and Charlton.

We need to be looking at better than him.

Rhodes won't score many goals purely because the pigs don't score many goals. If you don't create chances then it doesn't matter who the striker is, even Messi wouldn't score many with that shit shower. I would put money on two of our strikers scoring more goals than Rhodes next season.

Would you rather have a squad which has reached the playoffs in the last 2 seasons and is likely to challenge again or a squad that struggled to reach mid table and could get relegated?

It's not anti-United or something to acknowledge that Wednesday have improved since the new owners arrived. It's bleeding obvious they have!

You said he has been very good for them,it's bleeding obvious that they have spent a fortune and they are in exactly the same position as us come August ,had United gone down the same route, spending a fortune on mercenaries ,price hikes for supporters ,whilst achieving nothing, you wouldn't have been so complimentary

It's also plausible that they've shit their pot full and are on the verge of imploding under the weight of a team divided between overpaid billy big bollocks' and the rest. It may also be a question of time before Chancer gets pissed off with piling the money in with no sign of a return on the horizon. United are on an upward trajectory whilst it's possible they have peaked and are on the way back down. Fuck 'em.
