Could Alan Knill leave us next year?

There's not been any real thought about this, yet I fear there is a real possibility. The success that our management team has not gone unnoticed, whilst it'd take a ridiculous offer/circumstances for Wilder to leave, I'm not so sure with Knill.

He was a manager in his own right of course, doing very well at Bury, and perhaps he'd fancy returning to a number one position at a lower league club on the back of our achievements.

No-one could blame him of course, and I'm not suggesting we would collapse without him, but I think its something to be wary of and hope that there are back-up plans in place.

Pay rise, better personal circumstances (just speculation), and perhaps somewhere else would be a move forward for his managerial career. Would be thoroughly merited. I doubt he wants to stay as a number two for the rest of his life. Not trying to cause negativity, but it is a realistic possibility IMO

Like others have said I think he would want to stay with us and achieve something big here as a coach rather than go back to the muck and nettles of managing someone like Fleetwood. I'm more concerned that Wilder and Knill would go to a bigger club, maybe Sunderland if they sack Moyes but I think we'll be of for now.

We have just begun to be optimists, after years of unremitting pessimism. Every so often, something happens which triggers doubts. The return of Evans felt like a decision from a previous era, and the interview with Wilder in today's Star supplement has him thinking about the day he leaves. The reaction from some to this suggestion is nothing short of hysterical. Not all fans can go to these 'meet the managers events', so appreciate those who politely pass on the relevant information on a forum where one can ask these kind of questions

In theory, yes, if a big Championship club wanted him BUT that's never going to happen.

As already mentioned Knill has similarities to Blackwell, both know their stuff tactically but unlike Wilder don't have great man management skills,

Knill managerial record isn't that good, so he's only at best likely to get offers from league 2 clubs and those clubs probably won't be able to pay much more than what's he's on now.

Again as already mentioned our main concern is if Sunderland sack Moyes then offer Wilder and Knill a massive pay rise, would be very tempting but I seriously think he can fulfil his ambitions by staying here.

I don't think the possibility is all that outlandish. No doubt that Wilder and Knill will be both drawing attention from clubs higher up. Would take an absolutely massive job for Wilder to leave, but Knill will surely be on the radar of some top clubs from a purely coaching perspective. Not only have the dynamic duo been successful in the past two seasons, but its with a brand of football that is going to attract admirers. I have said numerous times but I think Knill's influence is quite a large part of the success Wilder and Knill have enjoyed recently. Not saying Knill would leave, but can imagine some top clubs would at least be contemplating adding a great coach to their staff.

CW isn't daft. As long as Ellis Short owns Sunderland the job is a poisoned chalice. I'll be surprised if they do a 'Newcastle'.
I guess the money would be very tempting but I think better clubs will be interested in him soon. If he was keen to go, which I don't think he is, he'd be better waiting for the next round of sackings.

The only thing that would make him leave us now is if he thinks the budget we give him isn't enough to keep us up, because a relegation would tarnish his reputation. And I just don't see that happening.

Mr Knills in my opinion is a man who has the ability to be a manager but not the temperament.
just take a look at how he's been as number two in the celebrations and then imagine how he would handle failure as number one.
No I think he's very comfortable as a number two.
