Obviously, my watching time is limited, but today, United were fucking superb.

Moore - 8/10: Bit generous as he had nowt to do
Basham - 8/10: Good workmanlike performance. Improved no end.
Wright - 8/10: See above, but with added 'gets in the wayness'
O'Connell - 9.5/10: Great performance.
Lafferty - 6/10: A bit clumsy with the passes
Freeman - 7/10: Did a great job covering off and getting on the attack when needed
Coutts - 7.5/10: Anchorman and fast becoming the Michael Brown we have missed
Fleck - 8/10: Again, part of a central pairing who make so much of a difference
Duffy - 7/10: Sometimes wasted the advantage but ... bloody hell did he graft
Sharp - 8/10: Typical 'chases paper bags in the wind' performance. For the shirt and the badge. Top scorer in all divisions. Sez it all
Clarke - 9/10: Christ. We said 'he'll be one of them to go'. I don't think so now. Great finishes.

Carruthers - 6/10: Not in the game enough but is enough for him for this season

All commentators were massively complementary about us, which is the first time I have heard that for some years. We were a division above Bradford today, a team who usually would come to the Lane to steal points off us with no real challenge. Everything about us was pleasing. The midfield control, the passing, the defending and the ability to move defence into attack in ten seconds. Fucking masterful. Well done Wilder, well done the players. So proud to be a Blade.

ps: O'Connell was fucking brilliant

Difficult to disagree with those scores. I'd have Freeman and Lafferty the same to be honest, didn't think either of them were at the top of their games. Freeman had a good run into the box, and Lafferty put in an outstanding ball first half, both were solid though so mebbee 7 each.

I'd have Jo'C and Clarke both on 9 too. Incredible performances from the pair of them.

Edit: yeah, Duffy deserved more. Worked his knackers off, but also made plenty of space. He occasionally tries to do too much, but that's the type of player he is so you have to forgive it.

Bradford stealing points at the lane!?!?
Isn't it that the last time they won at the lane was many many years ago??

They are the kind of team, like Preston and Bury, who we'd usually like to beat but end up drawing with of losing when we need the points.

I would have given Duffy 8 and possibly a bit more to Lafferty, although agree he was a tad wasteful. Saying that you can't have everything and we were simply a class above today. Quite a few Championship sides would have struggled to cope with that, in my humble opinion.

Don't be daft. The Championship is a poor man's La Liga this season. Even Buxton are better than Barca.

All season we have witnessed good football and loads of chances but not putting them away, today? Cynical finishing in tge first half, good football, good approach play and brilliant finishing, second half? We just took our foot off but still created three very good chances, Billy should have scored with his header, but a really enjoyable day, pommpey did you watch it in the pub, just wondered how it came across to the locals

That's progress. First few matches we couldn't win. Then we started beating clubs in the bottom half of the league. Now we beat the best teams in the league. Optimism for further improvement next season?

well that first half - i was struggling to believe it was us - it was fabulous

Some great passing football, I watched it on Sky and they had a lot of praise for the way we controlled the game and moved the ball around.

Different level. The first half reminded me of old international matches where England played an old fashioned style of predictable football and got tore apart by a technically superior side playing a type of football they just couldn't deal with.

Fucking love this club, what a season, what a manager and assistant, what a team. Brings a tear to my eyes after the shite of the last 6 years to have so much pride again.

Also Sky related - went to watch the game in an almost empty pub (the type previously known as a 'boozer' in Sarf London.
Me and 4 older geezers (who were already playing dominoes at 12.05).
As game progressed it turned out they were Chelsea, Palace x2 and Arsenal.
At 3rd goal, Chelsea said to his fellow players, "'ere, you've got to watch this one - what a great goal" and they all actually stopped playing dominoes to watch the move from our box to the finish.
Praise all round for the move and the unselfish lay off.

Sometimes it's good to be a Blade! :)

Coutts was great today, not according to like behind Mme..He thought he was shit..Did wonder if big Mary had been for a flying visit and mixed him up with Monty...But nope .He didn't look gay enough to be big Mary.. but just needs to lift his head and look forward sometimes..the easy ball sideways is used a bit too often..But you can. See he has summat...

I'm usually OK with innuendo, satire and hidden meanings but I haven't got a fucking clue what this is all about.

Absolute masterclass today.
7.5 for Coutts is a bit harsh. I thought he ran the show.

He did, but his yellow card was a bit stupid.

Flecks too. I thought Fleck was slightly better than Coutts today. I think if we sign one or two midfielders of their ilk from the Championship or ex-PL out of contracts this summer our midfield will be pretty unbeatable. I like the 3-5-2 formation but am not sure it will work every time next year.

To add to my last, I saw Bradford trying to press around 70th minute. Our formation was rock solid as the camera pulled out to track Bradford's inevitable long ball. Every Bradford player was covered and our players were also in such a position that if possession changed hands, we could get players forward and pass the ball up the pitch, so Bradford gambled and the ball ended up in touch. No options. Chelsea and Man City play very much like that and do it all the time to bounce the opposition on the break. A few years ago it would have ended up at Doyle's feet and gone sideways or backwards or lumped long to hope Porter or someone would chase it into touch. Could count on one hand how many long punts today went up and over to no one. Many of them ended up at Clarke or Sharp or went wide to Lafferty or Freeman bombing on. It was a Sheffield United I have not seen since 2002-03. We used to have that choice back then, either up the pitch with Brown, or wide to Tonge or Ndlovu. Such confidence and ability. UTB
