Southends kit man calls young blade a silly c*nt!

If he's joking it's not a genuine threat is it? If people are going to get upset at jokes there is no hope for them, they will constantly be offended their whole lives which diminishes offence for things that are actually worth caring about.
And if he is joking it isn't funny is it?
Like I've previously said, he's got up and walked out of press conferences and interviews before because someone dare to ask him a question he doesn't like.. but he's never threatened a male reporter with a slap, jokingly or not

Why on earth would any intelligent adult take himself online and sit there typing out "you stupid cunt" aimed at a child under any circumstances? Then for it to be aimed at some young kid who's full of the emotion and spirit that we're all desperate to express because his beloved club have finally achieved promotion after such a long and tortuous period in a lower league, and then for that kid to be in remission after a serious cancer scare, I mean fuck me sideways I hate the modern day PC brigade but this doesn't even come close. Southend, get him the fuck out of your place before his arse gets a chance to touch his chair again. This is beyond "PC" it's highlighting thundercuntery of the highest order. I hope the kid's dad is on his way to Southend right now. I would be, and I guarantee his fucking kit would need a wash after I'd finished.
Honestly what's political correctness got to do with anything here?
The guys been roundly called a twat, because he is, but I'm at a complete loss as to who you're referring to with this PC nonsense.
You are saying someone should be sacked because of a comment posted online. That's just as stupid as sacking someone for eating a pie or some other such bollocks. You can't sack someone for simply being a cunt, unfortunately. If it's not stopping him from doing his job, or impacting on his employers, then attack the individual comments for being mean spirited, heartless nonsense. Wanting some sort of vengeance on the sad undiviual who made these comments is just odd.

Whether it is funny or not is subjective, I found it cringe worthy and out of place.
What would change if he threatened a male reporter with a slap, would that be allowed as a joke?

Personally, although I agree with Lingsbord, I'd think the most relevant opinionis that of the boy's parents. All their son has been through and an adult involved in football refers to him as a stupid cunt. If his Dad wants to knock Watsons teeth down his throat I wouldn't criticise him. I'd certainly want to. What sort of a man - let alone a man in his position - would even think of posting that?

The responsibility is his, they were his words, if the outcome is the sack, tough.

For me, nothing would change if he threatened a male reporter with a slap..I'm sorry but threatening somebody with a slap, male or female, for daring to ask a question (just doing their job) that he doesn't like isn't funny...

You need to wind your neck in. Anyone who knows Moyesey knows how much he likes a bit of bantz.

Ok the guy is at the very least an uber twat, totally out of order But:
Is the boy so precious that he has never heard of the word 'cunt' before?

Lordy me,school playgrounds, football grounds, kids in the street, all are places where such epithets are freely bandied about, by and in front of persons of tender years. Having said that, I agree that the guy was bang out of order, but should he be sacked? No, I don't think so in this day and age when such language is now more common than it was twenty years ago
In MHO of course

Would you object if a ten year old child who was your own was called a stupid cunt by a stranger, even if they had heard the word before?

Why is the boy possibly "precious" btw? He was in a video which showed him supporting his football team. Nothing more, that I'm aware of. Why should any child have to put up with that, let alone one who has been through what he has?

Has Watson apologised, or is deleting his account to save on line grief the limit of his regret?

I just read the story on the Green Un app, and was utterly amazed.
I really hope the main media pick up on this story and it runs. If Southend have an atom of decency there would be a process that ends with the removal of a certain piece of human effluent seeking new employment.
''In the morning'', (cue for part of another song for the lad to belt out) I will certainly be contacting a few media outlets to alert them.

Southend deserve all the shitstorm coming their way if they don't do the decent thing.
Good to see some decent fans don't want him in their club.

Did you call him a silly cunt too? Then thought better after seeing the reaction?
;)
No kn, decided not to get into this debate to much. Made my blood boil and I'm to appeh at moment. Kit mans the c**t and glad to say yon little feller is on the mend so my opinion dunt count for much.

Calling a ten year old a "cunt" would probably constitute a criminal offence if the sender intended the child to read it or knew that the child was likely to.

(Do miss Darren for these occasions)

As I said, the guy is at the very least an uber Twat, and bang out of order . Great sympathy of course for what the young lad has suffered, but that has no bearing on the present incident . We are singing from the same hymn book here, except that, to answer the point you raise. I would have been right beside my ten year old son. Yes an apology is called for but we now live in an age where people tend to ignore the sensibilities of others,

Why should the lad or anyone have to put up 'with that' ?. Yes, Why? Not too long ago it would not have happened but today. it is tolerated . I defy anyone to go to a game where such language will noi be heard

Remembering my school days, we called each other names that would have shocked our parents . By the age of ten, we gave as good as we got and involving a parent would have been the last thing

I would have done

There are far worse things under the sun . Accept the guy is a nob and for goodness sake . Get on with celebrating what our team has achieved

You see plenty of really young kids on social media (even though they're to young for a social media account) being disrespectful towards their elders and calling them cunts all the time so this isn't a one way thing. Just to make it clear I'm in now way shape or form sticking up for that idiotic kit man, what he did was wrong and way below the mark.

I totally agree that we've all heard and used the word from the first days we heard it, but a grown man directing it at a young kid he's never met is still out of order and always will be.
I think you will struggle to find someone who doesn't think it is out of order.

Didn't Southend sack their groundsman this season because one of their matches had to be postponed after bad weather?

If not being able to prevent frost and rain affecting the turf is a sackable offence down at Roots Hall then going onto twitter to call a little boy a cunt definitely should be one as well. In fact going onto social media and bullying a child in such an appalling fashion should result in the sack whether you are a kit man, a politician or a postie.

The odious shite is a West Ham fan.

I just can't fathom why anyone would direct such bile at a child.

The child was wearing a Blades shirt - you answered your own question with the opening line.

Unbelievable that someone who works in football would post anything abusive in the public domain, but especially at a supporter of a fellow league club,
....who is only 10
....who is recovering from cancer.

Good to see the Shrimpers fans attitude though and this toerag needs a good kicking. He ought to be told by Southend to drive up to Sheffield with a large donation for the Children's Hospital and then apologise in person to the lad and his family. Of course that won't happen.

That appears to be an heartfelt apology. It also seems to prove the validity of the story. As others have said, this is a sad reflection on society today. Truly sickening. Can the Blades do something special for the lad? Maybe let him lead the singing of the GCB song at one of the remaining home games?

Well he's apologised and been reprimanded by the club. Live by social media etc.

Anything further should be between him and the family.

I would hope this would draw a line under it.

As has been clear for the responses we'd all handle this differently but I personally wouldn't want a face to face apology, and he seems contrite in his comments.
The next step is of course entirely up to the lad and his parents, although inviting him up for the Chesterfield game to meet his son and see that on the end of an internet post/video are real people, with real lives and issues would really hammer the point home. I think this would be resonate much more than demanding he loses his job.
As the fella above now said, it's now between him and the family.

Fuck me, what's wrong with people, a grown man giving abuse to a young boy, I thought that image of him belting GCB was brilliant, the lad has had a very difficult start to life and let's hope he's going to get stronger and stronger now.

Made worse by the fact that waste of skin works within the game, wants sacking. Mess with one of our kids, you mess with us all.

Mr Sinclair, can we use Fuersten's idea and get him starting GCB against Bradford or Chesterfield

I'm a parent of a 13 year old girl, and if someone was to call her the same thing and then want to apologise to her and my family face to face I'd happily tell him to go fuck himself, face to face. I strongly suspect I'm not the only parent who feels like this.

Isn't social media a wonderful thing. Yet again, comments made that would never have been made face to face. Wish people would think before they tweeted or made comments like this.
