I agree he's good enough and should get his chance. I've not realised before now, but last night I was close enough to the pitch to hear him shouting instructions to others as well. A few occasions last night for example he's advising O'Connell what to do as the ball is coming to him. This is great for the players around him.
I'm sorry I can't agree with the "legend" status. That word is thrown around far too easily and it should be reserved for players like, Hagan, Hodgkinson, Shaw, Woody, Currie, Hockey, Edwards, Deane, Agana, in my book. But I think JW is a very good player who reads the game exceptionally well and, for his height, wins a lot of balls in the air. His timing and positioning make up for any lack of pace or his 31 years. I think it just goes to show also that there are some players, probably many players, who have never really made a career outside of the lower leagues, but are still very good.
The fact that Oxford didn't want him any more suggests that they have someone even better (if so we should go get him) or they made a poor decision to let him go. Because to us he's worth a shirt every week. And it's great that he's enjoying this "autumn" of his career with us.
