In the last few weeks on here alone, I've seen all of these mooted as media organisations that are biased against United:
  • Radio Sheffield
  • Sheffield Star
  • Sheffield Telegraph
  • Goal Rush on Channel 5 (!)
In the past apparently the Football League Show on the BBC ALSO hated United. Which begs the question: do you seriously think local newspapers, radio stations and national TV shows are all going to be biased against us? I don't know if you're all suffering from collective paranoia or what, but it seems extremely unlikely to me.

I think RS in particular do a reasonable job at neutrality. The fact I see Wednesday fans complaining it's biased in our favour sort of indicates that.

The Star is just gutter press and I ignore it. Things like their "Everything you need to know about Carruthers" debacle is enough to stop reading them whether they're biased or merely sensationalist.

I think it's because Sheffield United are really really important to us (case in point when ever Man U are referred to as 'United' on TV or radio I automatically correct it out loud to 'Manchester United' no matter where I am).
This is why we read and contribute to a Blades forum.

So we have a heightened awareness of what is said and not said about us.

For the vast majority of people, even football professionals (both in the game and journos) we are not all that important and that's putting it politely.
So we tend to look for intentions or inferences that simply aren't there.

The Star and RS definitely. We didn't make no friends in the national press due to the "Carlos Tevez affair". That particular incident wasn't reported objectively by many in the national press and we seemed to somehow come out of it as the villains.

I don't have any problem with Radio Sheffield - think they generally do a fantastic job given the relatively small stature of the regions clubs.

The Star can fuck off though. I'm not even sure it's particularly 'biased' per se, it's just absolute shit. The online side is click-baity nonsense. I refuse to read it or even click a link through to there.

Pretty hard for anyone to defend against the star being biased against the Blades with the numerous high profile pieces of clear cut evidence. Radio Sheffield and the others is just childish petty paranoia from both sides and reminds me of a couple of toddlers complaining over who got more sweets from their mummy.

It's only The Star that have shown their bias over the years.

Think Radio Sheffield are pretty neutral and do a good job suporting any local club that has success.
Obviously they have a mild bias towards the two Sheffield clubs but that the majority of their audience.

Every club has a section of fans who think the media is biased against their club. Wednesday fans with a chip on their shoulder against Yorkshire TV named a fanzine after their 'injustice'.

I don't think Radio Pig is too bad apart from the 30minute interviews every other day with Carlos the waiter, oh and the annoying cunt piggy Pearson who they like to play clips of screaming like a knobhead. The Stir on the other hand have always in my life time an ingrained pig bias in a similar way to Sheffield council maybe it is just that they like to be close to each other like flies round shit.

Some people just feel the need to make themselves feel important by taking the position that everybody is against them.

It's a form of attention seeking and the same mentality a lot of conspiracy theorists have in a sort of 'I know something you don't know' kind of way.

I remember watching the match.
The final whistle went, Wednesday had won the cup.
The adverts come on almost immediately, then came "War of the Monster Trucks", no studio feedback, fan celebrations or manager/ player interviews. I watched the match with some Wednesdayites and they were seething at the time where as I thought it was hilarious.

Regards Yorkshire TV they've had a Leeds United bias for ages since the studios were moved to Leeds.

Spoke to one of the Radio Sheffield presenters a few years back. He said they hate working with Wednesday as whenever they do an interview with them they have someone sat in the same room immediately tweeting everything that is being said, leaving them with no 'breaking news' stories. He said United on the other hand were very good to work with. I thought it interesting at the time due to the stick they always seem to get about this supposed bias against United.

That can't have happened. You must have imagined it.

Do you not know that all media is heavily biased towards Sheffield Wednesday?

The Star is wank. Lazy journalism as shown day after day bringing up old articles as if it's new news. "SAVE OUR OWLS" did it for me.That wasn't a problem at the time, but when United were scrapping to survive to stay out of the fourth division.............nothing!

I think Wendies have a better relationship with the local media than United do. When Wilson was sacked, Paul Walker seemed to develop a bit of a vendetta against a club he seemed previously fond of. When Megson was in charge of the pigs, he cosied up to the local press in a big way and they fawned over him somewhat. Same with Strafford. I don't think it's true of Goal Rush, Football League Show etc.

What I would say about RS is that they seem to piss Barnsley off more than us. They seem a lot less afraid of upsetting the hierarchy there than they are of either Sheffield club.

I'll know that the Stir isn't really biased if I see the headline 'WEDNESDAY PLAYER IN £2,000 FRAUD SCANDAL!' in tonight's edition.

Headline would read

'WEDNESDAY PLAYER FRAMED IN FRAUD SCANDAL SUPPORT OUR CAMPIGN TO FREE THE S6 ONE'

Not the media admittedly but the Sheffield City Council don't like us

Walkers relationship with the club deteriorated over Blackwell.

Really? I seem to remember him being quite angry after the Wilson sacking, being quite critical of the club. Don't remember anything before that.

Yes. Wilson was a rerun of the Blackwell saga where he defended the useless tosser against all comers on RS and criticised the club then. He was then kept out of the loop somewhat.

I think part of is the fact that only we may slag us off. There can be a thread on here saying how garbage we played in a game, but if the media or someone not affiliated to United says it, we think they're being biased and picking on us.

Plus as you say he had a good relationship with the Pigs and immediately after they'd beaten us at the sty broke the news that Smegson had been sacked. Brian the Blade usually had to tip him off when we sacked a manager.

Fair enough. I wasn't aware of the Blackwell issue. To be fair to him, criticising the timing of both sackings is entirely reasonable.
