I remember that one, was on holiday. I know exactly what happened next, shagged the holiday rep.
What was his name?
Gay joke opportunity seized.
Yep I Was there they had a young kid called Fletcher up top I think he got the winner, went on to have a good career, a very good player.i think Bolton were relegated that season. So many comparisons to Saturday January 16th 1971 (almost 46 years to the day). Lost at Bolton 2-1. Our keeper was having a bad time. Following week we took advantage of the JTW (even though it wasn't around in those days). Three players signed and the rest is history.
We won one of our next 7 games. What happened next![]()
Bert was also there. Hodgy's last league game.Yep I Was there they had a young kid called Fletcher up top I think he got the winner, went on to have a good career, a very good player.i think Bolton were relegated that season.
There are some strange results on the way to promotion I have always found.lets put the latest to bed.
Also 6th Feb 1982, Colchester 5 Blades 2............
Yes, Tudor (his last league game for us before moving to Toon) scored early in the match. Ian Seddon hit the equaliser, Paul Fletcher looked offside for the winner and highlights on YTV in the next day seemed to confirm what I had thoughtYep I Was there they had a young kid called Fletcher up top I think he got the winner, went on to have a good career, a very good player.i think Bolton were relegated that season.

I think Blackburn rovers away was Hodgy s last match Bert which we won I think 3-2.Bert was also there. Hodgy's last league game.
The 3-1 win at Blackburn was on November 7th 1970, ten weeks before his last League match at Bolton. Hodgy was at fault for letting in Blackburn's soft equaliserI think Blackburn rovers away was Hodgy s last match Bert which we won I think 3-2.
Hodgy had a poor game ( his confidence had gone the run of poor results after the Bolton defeat finished him ).l even wrote to John Harris
more or less telling him Hodgy was shattered, not saying I influenced him but John Hope was signed soon after , it was clear to me Hodgy had to go (even though he was my boyhood hero and still my best blades goalie ever ).
As us older blades remember it was a great finish to the season, can we do similar this season !! I say YES.
Bert is sure that Hodgy's last league game was Bolton, however rather than consult Bert's library it shall be decided by Silent BladeI think Blackburn rovers away was Hodgy s last match Bert which we won I think 3-2.

Bloody hell that was quick!Bert is sure that Hodgy's last league game was Bolton, however rather than consult Bert's library it shall be decided by Silent Blade
Apologies Bert you are right Silent always gets it right ,did write to Harris about Hodgy though and he stopped playingBloody hell that was quick!
His last 1st team game was the 1-0 away defeat to Chesterfield in a friendly on January 23rd. Tom Fenoughty scored in the 1st minute and Hodgy wasnt quick enough to sop the low shot from outside the penalty box. The following week my dad and I went to the Oxford away game (Hockey and Hope made their debuts). Hope came out and caught every cross and my dad kept applauding him because it was a long while since our keeper were regularly catching crossesApologies Bert you are right Silent always gets it right ,did write to Harris about Hodgy though and he stopped playing
after being dropped as you say.what a great goalie he was though.
Just shows how time warps ones memory ,I would have put money on it being the other way round.
Ignore that Silent, he knows nowt.Just shows how time warps ones memory ,I would have put money on it being the other way round.
How dare you!!! There was this kid called (funnily enough) STEVENBLADE, danced around in a bikini with his man boobs bouncing about, believe he left with someone called the Oracle.
Yep Silent they both had an impact on that game.what a character Hockey was it was his debut and he lifted the spirits of the team straight away. His last 1st team game was the 1-0 away defeat to Chesterfield in a friendly on January 23rd. We lost at Carlisle too in late February. Were you at the QPR game when we were losing 2-0 with 2 mins left before Woody and Hemsley (pen) levelled the scores? I was at a reserves match at the Lane that day and after the final whistle my dad and I were leaving the ground feeling sad thinking we had lost at QPR but all of a sudden there were excited shouts that made us look back and trying to get back into the ground to look at the pavilion scoreboard. We saw a tall man at the gate stretching both his arms up and his fingers were signalling 2-2. To confirm it we looked at the scoreboard indicating that it was a 2-2 draw! It was a big lift for our moods!Yep Silent they both had an impact on that game.what a character Hockey was it was his debut and he lifted the spirits of the team straight away.
One incident in the game I remember very well !!.Hockey shouted to Frank Barlow who was attacking a high ball in central areas , :get up there Frank ie
baby :: I could here it very clearly from where I was stood behind the goal. The team was having a real poor run of form especially in away games ,I think
that was a crucial time as we looked like throwing all the good work away.We did have a hiccup against Hull at the lane, but that was due to the two butchers Hull had in midfield .
This is complete and utter bollocks, i've seen Silent Blade get two things wrong out of the thousands of things he's written.Silent always gets it right
