George Williams

I don't want players who can / could run through brick walls.

I want players who can pass to a team-mate, a player who's second touch isn't a tackle and players who this time next year will be looking back on a successful season and looking forward to the prospect of playing in the Championship.

A decent pre-season training session will do just as much after the injuries.
 
I'm really impressed with the kind of criteria of the targets
Never having seen any of them play I couldn't tell you what kind of players they are but they all seem to be in the young hungry mode that could flourish under a good coaching set up and experience of games in our league

Used to frustrate me that we weren't chasing these kind of targets last few seasons
 
Hi guys, your resident MK Dons fan here.

George came through our youth academy and has been back on loan at the club twice. Suffered a horrendous injury in his first spell and has never really been the same since.

He doesn't play too often for us because in all honesty he isn't up to much and we have better.

Wouldn't be sad to see him leave but if he does go to you I hope he does well, I can't see that happening because his injury really does seem to have ruined him. Hopefully Wilder can get the best out of him, I don't know. Either way best of luck to the kid.
 
According to wiki he has a total of 1 goal in 43 appearances - zero goals in 30 odd league games and he is supposed to be a forward/winger.

Surely we can do better although that's obviously just based on stats??

I'd say that based on those stats Sammon and Higdon were five times as good :eek:
 
Rather than take an attacking midfielder who can't get in MK Dons' team I'd rather us sign someone who can get in their team, Ben Reeves. Out of contract in the summer and we could get him now for under 500k. Now he'd give us proper strength in depth. Could probably step up to the Championship too. Versatile attacking midfielder with composure, dribbling ability and a good left foot.

U must be looking at the wrong player then because if u actualy go on his wiki it says 10 in 4 on loan at mk first time , 12 in 10 on loan at gillimgham, and 5 in 6 on loan at MK second time https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Williams_(footballer,_born_1995)

Sorry mate but the wiki site I looked at was def the right player and the stats were nothing like the ones on the site you found - do you honestly believe those stats? Think you've been had!

2 profiles on Wiki, one of them is for a defender and the other is attacker. The attacking one is the one I presume we are looking at and his stats are decent.

I checked his position on the one I looked at and he was a forward/winger.

I think we all know that wiki can be altered by pretty much anyone but surely if the stats are 12 in 10, 10 in 4 and 5 in 6 then either Fulham would be playing him in the Champ or he would be being touted for the PL! Added to that the comments above in Post 8 by BetterCallSaul, who is an MKD fan, I don't believe those high scoring stats to be right.
 
He doesn't really get assists or scores or take men on... I only remember him scoring one goal for us and that was in the FA cup when he was 16.
 
I've seen Williams play for Wales. He was in our 23-man squad for the Euros but I don't think he made an appearance at all in France. He did start in the qualifier against Northern Ireland though back in March. Ignore the goal stats – he's predominantly a winger, and actually had a really good hour in that qualifier, but he's fallen back into the U21 squad this season and I've not seen anything of him since. Would be an option for Chapman's replacement I'd have thought rather than the additional striker we're looking for.

Well you don't become a full international player without having summat about you so I suppose stats can be misleading! I think he has been injury prone recently as well, which would be a concern.
 
I'm pretty sure we won't be signing him.

This one would just seem to be getting a signing in early on for the sake of it.

He'll be one of our back up options.

I personally would hope that we're looking at someone that's had fewer injury problems and could offer a goal threat from out wide (which Chapman did).

No I'm sorry mate but I looked at the right one - the one that had him as a forward/winger who played for MK Dons, Gillingham, Fulham etc etc - as has been said, wiki can be altered, which clearly is the case here and if you look at the soccerbase stats that someone else posted you will see that he has scored bugger all goals for the clubs mentioned
