Really ? Why ?

Are you fucking menstruating? Get a fucking grip daft lad. Great match report, full of praise, one mention of a chant about Ched and you go on the blob.

If you get all fucking girly thinking that was a dig maybe best that you hide in a cupboard next time we lose.

Edit: and before you get all pissy, I'd have probably joined in chanting so stick that in your fucking pipe and smoke it.

Just two things, really, to take issue.

Eight games undefeated including six wins is not "play-off" form. The first four games are rapidly becoming ancient history; the team were not up to speed or fitness for proper Tuftyball (and "proper" it is - more Barca than Bassett :)).

Duffy was an absolutely vital cog alongside Fleck and Coutts in a classy midfield. I have given them all 8s.

He mentions that there was some Ched related chanting from the kop, not that the ground was alive with it. I don't think it is Deadbat looking like a complete prick here.
Quite right. Deadbat's reports seems 100% accurate to me.

For those too far away to hear or with hearing problems there were two or three chants for the Chesterfield player during the game, both at nil nil and when we were 2-0 up, some of it quite loud in the first half.

I can also confirm that no songs were sung about Harry Maguire, Stephen Quinn or Matty Lowton :-)

I also thought Duffy was excellent today, deserved the standing ovation when he was subbed. They all played well today. The Ched chants were in the first half either the centre back of the kop or right hand side as you look at the pitch. There was also a bit of bother to the left of me on the kop, about 20 stewards and some peelers had to sort it out, not sure what happened.

Great match today if not a little too one sided

Great report DB

But why oh why make yourself look like a complete prick with your " Ched chant " rant .

I personally never heard anything Ched related through out the game . But according to you the ground was alive with it .

Why try to throw a spanner in the works of what was a first rate performance ?
lots of chants about her been a liar ,whore ,and lots of Evans chants

I only heard one chant from the Kop and that was quickly followed up with the United chant. Nobody around me mentioned it all match on the South Stand

I thought it was his best performance and seemed to be fitter than last time out. The free kick into the box to O'Connell for our first chance was a beaut

Cheers as ever Deadbat - one small quibble from deepest south west London: if the performance was "superb" and "a mauling" how come the highest mark you gave was an 8.5?! You have some seriously high standards!!

Keep up the good work though - much appreciated.

Was just about to make a similar observation.

Excellent report, always, , but the scale seems more like 5.5-8.5 most weeks. 5.5 means absolute garbage, and 8.5 is the best you can possibly get. We demand linearity DB!

Deadbat has certain standards, you know...

It was not really a rant and I never suggested the ground was alive with it. I heard the chant once (I then heard a lot of Blades singing it at the top of Fargate after the game too)/ Others said they heard a few chants.

I have stayed away from all the twitter stuff, not even read the long thread on this forum for a while. I have kind of moved on from it. It is totally irrelevant to us now what the new verdict is. I had a slght interest because of the affect it had on us years ago but do not get the pro Evans stuff at all. It's almost like he is still a hero to some. He acted disgracefully that evening. As an employee of SUFC it was applaling behaviour.

Just do not get why some fans are still so obsessed by it/him.

We won 4-0 - maybe I should not have mentioned it and I am being totally hypocritical by saying why are we still mentioning him and then I do! I just felt it was worth mentioning as on great performance win we surely should be focusing on the current team/manager etc

Great report, disagree regarding Duffy - I thought he was brilliant today, he never really put a foot wrong and turned them inside out and got on the score sheet - challenged for MOM with the big man and Fleck

Most complete Blades performance for sometime

A lot including people I was with have said I downplayed Duffy's perfomance. All about opinions. He was good. I just feel his end product can be better bu I may have marked him a bit low on reflection.

Players have to swing round Deadbat's with a takeaway and a few beers to get a 9. If it's good snap and ale they get 9.5. Nobody gets a 10. Nobody.

Very good!

Not sure I have every given anyone a 10.

I am way too harsh and I probably have that same annoying newspaper tendency to ignore marks 0-3 mostly and 10; so kind of mark from 4 to 9. May aswell mark out of 5?!!

EEL is in bits this morning. 2 goals. Won every challenge he made. Never misplaced a pass. But he never got the beers in. Schoolboy error....

Deadbats style is always to downplay how well we played.
It's always consistently a sober and level headed analysis.

So for anyone that didn't go to the match you can count yourself really unlucky.
If Deadbat sings our praises and can't find any fault then you know it must be something special.

Best I've seen us play since our first season down here when Danny Wilson was manager.
We simply outclassed Port Vale.

Agree with your comments about Jake Wright.
He's a real thinking mans centre back. Probably too slow and past it for a back 2 in the middle if a defence but with having 3 centre backs he lets EEL and O'Connell do most of the defending and Wright intelligently just waits in the wings mopping up any lose ends.

Interesting! This weekend is the most ale I have had supped for a while. Friday night I consumed 7 pints and a curry in town getting home for 1am and then yesterday after a stupid 5 mil run at 8am (no idea why I did that and was close to emptying the previous nights Jalfrezi onto Graves Park) I was back on the sauce at 12ish; sinking another maybe 4 or 5 pre game (and a few post game). The point is not to show off about my drinking but to say my report yesterday was conducted in anything but a sober state!

Cheers for the comments. Appreciated.

Yes he prob did deserve an extra mark. Ridiculous he did not get maybe 9.5 really. He has been in touch to ask for my preferrer ale for next time.

Absolutely spot on report Deadbat
Agree with some others that you were slightly harsh on Duffy but that's nitpicking, you were still positive in your comments about him and like you, I believe we'll be seeing a lot more from him.

To get a 9 or a 9.5, surely EEL needed to score a left footer to complete a 'perfect hat-trick'?

If db says it was good it must have been!
Seriously though, the most one sided win at the lane since England U21's mauled the Sweaties 6-0.
Everybody won their battles against what appeared to be very heartless opponents (or were we that irresistible?)
Duffy - was good as I've seen him yesterday but I think we'll have to live with his obvious foibles which on days like yesterday are digestible.
Finally, wtf's up with that Luke bloke. Childish in the least.

Did you hear the Ched related chants ? All I heard was a ground full of appreciative Blades applauding one of the best performances in a long time .

I guess some just aren't happy with that .
There was one Ched chant from the kop that lasted about a minute. I am in the Family stand and it was very loud. Not sure how you missed it - although having said that I personally had no problem with it and would love to see Ched back.

Fantastic performance yesterday. The best in the league for a long time.

Seems the deflection for the Fleck shot came off one of theirs and the ref has admitted he made a mistake.

My read at the time re: the delay is that because of the angle of the shot, the lino being unsighted, doesn't matter what, he didn't see it was deflected, then was asked if whoever it did deflect off was offside when the shot went in and flagged accordingly. Better to take his time, certainly better than the other way round and flagging straight away and it wasn't touched, which is even worse

Then again, my crap eyesight from the Kop thought it was an OG in real-time so sack him

Cheers DB. Agree with everything bar the Duffy assessment (as some other posters have highlighted) . I would have given him 8.5 personally. I also cannot believe that O'Connel missed that header from his cross! It was literally put on a plate for him.

One of the lads with me heard it. I couldn't understand a word though, think my ears may need another syringing.

I was in the south stand and despite being a deaf bastard, clearly heard a 'Super Ched' chant from the kop. But I did only hear the one.
Pardon?

Yep, that's what I heard, 10 minutes in. Soon replaced by chants of 'United' though.

I'm grateful the game was good enough to distract everyone from all that.
