Gillingham's goal just showed the difference between us and teams with a game changer in their line up. You can afford to soak up pressure if you have that one player you can rely on to add a bit of class and change the game.

Unfortunately we haven't had a real game changer in our ranks since Ched. Also unfortunately, they usually cost money, so I can't see us addressing the issue in January. It should be the top priority though.

We need someone who can create something from nothing.

don't think he's a game changer on that more the keeper gave 3 quarters of the net to shoot at why don't you stand in the fucking middle also 2 players did not jump

Yeah we prefer players like Basham though.

If I was Wilder I'd be giving O'Connell a right fucking blocking for not jumping in the wall.

If he'd have jumped as a wall is supposed to that wouldn't have been a goal.

And I might add, this is the best we've played this season, take into account that gills are a good team in this division.. I'm ok, and it's only half time

More to do with a wall that doesn't f'kin jump and a keeper standing way out of position.

Dacks a fat fucker, see if you can guess why nobody took a punt on him

Yes a fat fucker who is running the show down here . Wish he was another fat fucker in a red and white shirt .

Game changing player who sees a pass before anybody else .

Sign the fat fucker up to feed balls to the fat lad from Sheffield .

We have played well, Freeman especially, but that illustrates my point. Playing well counts for nothing if you don't have the players to convert that into goals.

Basham and Duffy, other than his decent shot, have been poor.

Just watched it back from behind the goal. Moore was in the centre of his goal by the time it left Dack's foot.

It was a great goal TBH but the wall should have stopped it. No blame on the keeper for me.

we were on top, but you have to take chances. It's been the same over the last few seasons, we consistently get punished when the opposition get a chance. But we don't do the same to our opponents. It costs us dearly.

Simple fact is, we were fairly decent up until the goal

We've had one since Ched - Murphy

And from what we also heard (as a rumour), Clough agreed to Murphy's sale because he had Che Adams.

And in fairness, Billy Sharp can also be a game changer.

I get the feeling that both Harry Chapman and Lavery will have the potential to at least light up games.

Whilst I like Billy, he still requires other players to create the chances for him (which we aren't particularly strong at).

I do agree about Murphy though, he's the closest thing we've had since Ched.

Since we're unlikely to pay a big fee, we really need to unearth a lower league gem or hope someone from the academy surprises us.

Billy, yes, he's a pace-less striker, but i think you're being a little unfair to suggest that he's not a game changer. True he's not like Ched, Tonge, Brown, Murphy and he's not going to dazzle with skills to create a chance from nothing, but he does have composure, like Ched, he also has the confidence from penalties etc.

As for unearthing gems - Tonge, Murphy, Che Adams all came from modest backgrounds

Let's face it if we had a Bradley dack he would have been SOLD
The rumour is that we bought him in the summer, but we'd already sold him on the day that we signed him, so he didn't even make it to the lane....

How did that turn out....???

Lboe..

Kicked the ball twice, have you washed your knickers out yet fore the missus picks em up ??

We did the right things today, and the team consistently created. I was pissed off with their goal but thought if we could keep our heads and keep playing how we were, something would drop. We were the better of the two sides and earned our victory and there definitely looked to be more composure out there. Credit to CW and the lads. Early days but I'm enjoying that.

Agree about the game changer, oh for a Michael Brown on full song. Think Wilder may be resigned to the fact that there aren't that many at this level so he's going for the collective approach. Get a solid unit of hard working, no frills motivated players and see about grinding our way out of the league.

Not pretty, but if it works it doesn't matter.

Shame for some of our "fans" that games last 90 minutes?
(and some of the passing /movement out of midfield - especially in 2nd half was quite good)

Can't see where the OP's that far off to be honest. We struggle keeping clean sheets, not having that game changer has cost us in previous games. Other teams manage to find a way through, score a worldie (or whatever stupid name it's called these days) and we huff and puff and get nowt. We've not had the balls or the nous to get back previously, hopefully Wilder will address that but like I said, might not be pretty.
