Missing that many and with kenworthys record imagine how many Edwards could have had extraMorris has scored the most (35) and missed the most (12)
Tunstall scored 32 and missed 8
Furniss scored 17 and missed once (the 7-3 win against Wendy in 1951)
Morris missed 12 penalties for us although quite often he would go on to score from the rebound

Morris missed 12 penalties for us although quite often he would go on to score from the rebound
Duffield scored every penalty he took for us at youth, reserves and 1st team matches, Blackman's technique is good but it wull be ruled illegal if he carries on like he always did. Forgot that Andy Gray was good as was Bobby Ford
Tony Kenworthy and Colin Morris were both fairly reliable over a number of years but neither were infallible like Duffield was.
Woody, the answers always Woody when the question starts who was our best.......
king keith dont think ever missed a pen for united, love to no how many he took one for you SILENT BLADE seem to remember him scoreing against hull for is hat trick but thats it, sure they will all come back to me
To be fair Kenworthy wasn't so reliable on the one day we really could have done with it.
Morris missed 12 penalties for us although quite often he would go on to score from the rebound
The John Mathews who should have took that fateful pen but bottled it so Don stepped up and..........always felt a bit sorry for Don GivensJohn Matthews for me.
Duffield 6/6 for us too plus 100% record in reserves and youth matchesNick Blackman. His professional career record from the spot is 12/12. 6/6 with us.
So Kenworthy it is then ,interestingly isn't he the only defender on there ? Seem to recall Ray Stewart from WHU was regarded as the best penalty taker in the country and he was a defender too.Statistically from "The Complete Record" (up to 2012/13)....
Players with 100%
Peter Duffield 7/7 (seven taken, seven scored)
Mitch Ward 6/6
Jeff Bourne 5/5
David Cotterill 5/5
Andy Gray 4/4
J. Docherty, C.Asaba, P. Ndlovu, D.Henderson all 3/3
From the players who've taken 10 or more penalties for the Blades, the best % records are :-
Tony Kenworthy 22/20 90.9%
Fred Furniss 17/15 88.2%
Bob Benson 23/20 87.0%
James Beattie 13/11 84.6%
Other notables...
A. Woodward 25/21 84.0%
C. Morris 54/42 77.8%
K. Eddy 17/14 82.4%
D. Whitehouse 14/11 78.6%
Interestingly both Michael Brown and Jack Lester scored 8 out of 9 penalties (88.9%)
Not sure where Baxter or Blackman would be in the list.
Statistically from "The Complete Record" (up to 2012/13)....
Fred Furniss 17/15 88.2%
.
Furniss was a right back and Benson was tooSo Kenworthy it is then ,interestingly isn't he the only defender on there ? Seem to recall Ray Stewart from WHU was regarded as the best penalty taker in the country and he was a defender too.
