The Star is the only daily paper Sheffield has got, and what journalists are left work for very low wages. They can't afford to do investigative journalism any more, but at least still report things that happen in our city that are newsworthy and offer a platform for opinions. I'm sure James Shield has some decent contacts within the game - he wouldn't have been given the job otherwise. To suggest all the Star's reporting on United is recycled rumours from message boards is way off the mark.

I agree the Star has gone downhilll but that's because it has virtually no income - very few advertisers, and a lot less readers than it used to have. But I would hate to see it fold.

I cant see it but if we did get him then we really do have a chance next season. I went on the League One board a few days ago and a Coventry fan said that if we don't go up this time with our signings then we are here forever. I don't agree that we have signed anything that suggests that but we look a better team for me . I do think we will get off to a slow start though as it's pretty much a new team

Disagree about our signings Roy. We have Hussey instead of JMac, Fleck instead of Baxter, Clarke instead of Sammon, we have Duffy and our defence looks better. Whether we have enough to go up is open to debate, we still need a couple of signings but surely we look a better team than last season already?

I think we look far better but I am not sure if that merits the comment of "If they dont go up now they never will". I fully expect a better season

We need to be far better as we finished way behind in a very mediocre division last season. Some decent teams have come up and all the 3 who came down could challenge. If Morsy comes and we get a dominating centre half then we are well set.

On the latter seems to have gone quiet on the centre half front , do we think we are done there ?

While I agree with Roy's point about new players gelling, I have to say I'm with Stretch. So far all the new players look better to me than those they've replaced, and we're always looking to go forwards instead of sideways. I don't expect us to hit the ground running necessarily, but I'm hugely encouraged so far.
