SUFC vs. Manchester United B

If I'm reading it right and it's the top 16 U21 teams from the U21 'prem. league' that would include Reading.

Reading have a good chance of being relegated next season and with the groups being regional theres a very real possibility of Reading v Reading U21's being a 'competitive' fixture...

And if that's not bad enough we'd either get Derby or Middlesbrough U21s. Yay. Go team football.

It's the top 16 Premier League teams.

You need to pay more attention to what the football league is actually planning.

You can see it now, a B-team beating a top academy team at Wembley, the Football League and Premier League highlighting how they've "freshened up the tournament" and given "future England stars" a great development opportunity, and then when it comes to looking at 8 more clubs to add to their new League 3 structure they decide to reward a few of the B-teams over Conference sides that would be "less competitive". It's clearly a means to give these B-teams a bigger profile to warm people up to the idea of adding them to the Football League. Load of bollocks.

I don't hold with the opinion that the FLT don't matter. It's part and parcel of our languishing in division 3. I want my team to win EVERY match especially one at Wembley.

I'm even partial to change and evolution but this proposal pisses on the backs of every paying spectator since the professional game was adopted. Absolutely stinks.

One of the main attractions of the former paintpot was little clubs having a chance to get to Wembley. Now this won't happen because Prem sides get the very best young talent and groom them from an early age. Tiny clubs won't stand a chance.

So the Premier League clubs can now come in at an official match and see what youngsters we may or may not have to whisk them away for fuck all yet again.
The whole idea is wank.

What was a good competition to field some young pros to give experience is now devalued and made to look a bit shity really.

There will be no objection from chairman with a prize fund on 2million. Fans of lower league clubs will get the chance visit the Emirates, anfield, old Trafford etc so there will be little objection from most fans. Hopefully we get promoted this season and we won't be involved.

We're already in it.

It's starting 2016-17.

Complete joke, the arrogance of these greedy bastards holds no bounds..Why don't they get their kids to improve by playing them in their own first teams..nah,let's get the cannon fodder L1 and L2 teams involved, while we continue to stockpile all the best youngsters..Hopefully they'll be playing in front of empty stands.

I think they work on a majority vote system so not all clubs will have agreed to it.

Interesting to see that some clubs are stating on their official twitter accounts &/or club sites that they voted against. Portsmouth, Accrington & Hartlepool have all done so.

Be very interesting to know how United voted. (And very much hope - but don't expect - we voted against too.)

Also, opposition has started to be formed already (petition; statement from the Against League 3 collective). Worth noting that (at this stage) it's a pilot scheme, being run for a year. But one without any consultation having been done beforehand. Wonder why not?...

Yea let them keep bringing in the mercenaries in with no intention in playing the kids.
Is there any point in having a youth policy at their level

Petition signed. I've also e-mailed the club to ask how we voted (that'll show 'em...).

Im probably in minority but I dont mind it because these youngsters need the proper games to hopefully improve the ever falling domestic quota in the premier league & hopefully this might get a few more rashfords coming through. also they were coming regardless its better in JPT than League 3

There's is 1 academy team in each group & academy sides has 2 of 3 away so rules are skewed in our favour. Although the big elephant in the room is if chelsea youth team makes Wembley v us are you going to have 40000 Sheffield United fans & no one In other end

& yes someone mentioned the gulf in money & I know the man city team in youth cup has bigger budget than most L1 Teams but dont forget as I always say money & status is worth nothing in lower leagues because if that's the case we wouldn't have come 11th. likes yeovil brentford Burton Bournemouth rotherham would never got promoted
