We don't need to move forward or backward....we just need to stay up.

Couldn't care less about Hecky or Wilder.....All we should care about is Sheffield United.
Always makes me shake my head how so many people (talking in general) are incapable of "critical thinking".

It's as though, "Don't like Wilder, he left us in the lurch, so he's xxxxxxxxx", cue the insults and disrespect (which is incredible really for the best manager we've ever had)
and "I like Hecky so whatever he does I'll support him even if we lose every remaining match", surely this is rank incompetence to have zero accountability.

Liking or disliking a personality shouldn't really come into it.
People seem to want to put people in a box, hang a label on them.....then choose a gang.

Are you in the pro Hecky gang or the pro Wilder gang? I'm not in either gang....couldn't care less, like and dislike bits of both of them.

It's a fact Wilder has been the best manager in our history....in that 4 year spell it's one of the most amazing transformations of a club in English football
but there are some weaknesses and things I didn't like about him, his success was built around that amazing overlapping centre back tactic, once we lost O'Connell and to a degree Basham, the replacement centebacks were never as good and the tactic gradually fell apart, then we had little to offer. As mentioned no plan B.

There are things I like about Hecky's personality, he's calm, handles pressure well and just gets on with it but I'm never sure of what he's trying to do, there doesn't seem to be a plan A never mind plan B. Wilder had us more well drilled, as though every player was more comfortable on the ball and knew where to pass before even looking, where as with Hecky the players have more license to play how they want, so Hecky is relying on individual ability instead of teamwork.
This team will not stay up, regardless of who the manager is

I am definitely not in the "get hecky out" crew I believe he's trying to do the job with his hands tied , will the prince pull the plug , no I don't think he will !!! For one he's on a long contract and who's going to take the job ?? I for one certainly don't want wilder back ! Despite the fantastic memories,
Maybe a good foreign largely unknown guy ??

Bash pushed from behind...no foul...this league...fuck me
Not a single comment by the commentator. It was a terrible advantage to play. It was a free kick minimum.

As I said, even the little things, they just can’t resist.

We’ve been the better team for large portions of this game, but as ever we can’t keep a clean sheet and have given shit goals away.

I see we get 6 minutes added time now we are losing. Not the 12, which ended up being 16 when winning.

Apart from this last 2 mins it’s been mainly United yet the way they commentate you’d think it had been one way traffic. But then again we killed it off ourselves.

Btw, hasn’t Thomas had an absolute stinker?

Most of that 6 minutes will have been for Egan's injury won't it.

Hecky should resign, it's not going to work. I don't really want to hear about budgets when Luton are 3 clear having played a game less too. This is the Wilder era again, we have one way of playing. If that fails, tough shit.

We don’t get the ball past halfway much let alone last third. What good is a fresh player up front?
I know it’s been a long time since we’ve seen him so that will be why you’ve forgotten that Brewster is able to drop deeper to pick up the ball & run at teams.

If we bring Wilder back though we'll still only have one way of playing again, cant win.

He was the greatest manager we've ever had, there's no one in the past who has performed a Brian Clough like miracle of taking a bottom of the table league 1 side to challenging for a Champions League place with alot of the same league 1 players. Sounds impossible, still can't believe it happened and we played good football too.

So if we need an impossible miracle...then we've seen with our own eyes Wilder can do it.
However I agree with the thought train that 2nd spells for managers generally don't work so Im not 100% convinced in Wilder either
Depends how desperate we are and what the other options are
If it's looking like with Hecky we have zero chance of staying up then at least with Wilder we do have a chance of not just staying up but finishing well clear of the relegation places. Still think on an individual player basis this years team is better than the Wilder team.

However Wilders success was based on the unique overlapping centre backpack tactic which was practiced over a few seasons.
So without that tactic...I'm not sure he's any better than Hecky...but once the players have lost faith in the manager...then Hecky needs putting out if his misery.

I suppose the decision is
1: Do we just accept we going down with 0% chance of staying up?
Do we accept we'll rarely attack in most games this season and are just keeping the score down to 2-0 or 3-0 every week.
It will be embarrassing but do we stay strong and use the logic that Hecky will get us promoted next season in the Championship?
However I didn't see anything special regards Heckys management last season, without N'Diaye don't think there's any way we'd have made the play-offs.
The main positive last season was Heckys pragmatism and negativity.
We'd go 1-0 then sit back defending the rest of the game, ironically this negativity helped us gain scrappy unconvincing wins.
Our defence would often be under loads of pressure in the Championship but we were so deep and organised that quite often our goalie would have little to do.

2: Regards Wilder, we've seen with our own eyes he's capable of performing miracles, so with this team we could end up mid table.
It could also go pear shaped, Wilder is quite emotional compared to the calm Hecky and it could turn toxic.
I'd give Hecky another match or 2 and if there's no sign of competing performance wise (not results wise)
then in my view we've nothing to lose taking the risk giving the job to Wilder.
You make the claim "on an individual basis this team is better than Wilder's team." Only one player now would get in Wilder's team and that's Baldock. All other members of that team such as Basham, Egan, Norwood and Fleck have regressed badly but were very good. Henderson/ Wes, Bash/ Anel, O'Connell/Robinson, Enda/ Thomas, Lundstram/ Hamer, Sharp/Archer and Mcgoldrick/McBurnie. There's no comparison with the level the players named first, were achieving and the current crop.

I was delighted with the Hamer signing but he's given the ball away for fun the last two games, and carelessly and needlessly so.
A mate of mine who watches Coventry a bit said last week that's par for the course. Ruined my day
