Anyone know what the record is for most own goals in a PL season? We must be getting close..
With 6 we've tied with Brighton (22/23), Sunderland (13/14), Villa (12/13), Hull (09/10), Southampton (04/05), Wimbledon (95/96) and Man City (94/95*) in scoring the second highest number of own goals in a single season.

Leicester's 8 in 2003/04 is the benchmark.

*42 game season

We can surely squeeze a few more in

I understand the current PL record for fewest clean sheets in a season is 3.

We've managed 1 so far.

(Until Arblaster's bad luck last week I thought Brentford were going to be the only side not to score against us this season.)

We should breeze the record.

We also hold the record for most draws in a 42 game season (18, in 1993-4) jointly with Man City and Southampton.

It is curious that we share the record for most and fewest draws with Man City.

There is another record we can have a crack at. The biggest aggregate score in a season is Man City 12 Watford 0 in 2019-20. If Newcastle beat us by 5 goals they will beat that. We have already broken the club record this season, 0-11 v Arsenal being our worst home and away aggregate score of all time.
With a 5-1 defeat to Newcastle, the aggregate score was 13-1. As we scored a goal does this we equal the record or is it Watford's record still as they lost to nil?

As it stands, we hold the following records, either outright or shared:
  • First goalscorers in the Premier League (cannot be beaten)
  • Most defeats in a 38-game season: 29 in 2020/21 (shared with Sunderland in 2005/06 and Derby in 2007/08)
  • Fewest draws in a 38-game season: 2 in 2020/21 (shared with Man City & Spurs in 2018/19)
  • Most consecutive games without a win from the start of a season: 17 in 2020/21
  • Most goals conceded at home: 47* in 2023/24
  • Fewest goals scored in a 38-game season: 20 in 2020/21 (shared with Derby in 2007/08)
  • Latest goal: 103rd minute (Oli McBurnie vs West Ham, 21/1/24)
Now this needs putting on the honours board!

In the context of most goals conceded, there is a factor that didn't apply when Swindon Town or Derby County were strutting their stuff and getting stuffed.

This season, because of the measures to nullify time-wasting, games seem to last forever.

More game time = more goals.

More specifically in our case, more time to concede.

Another factor that has been put forward to help explain the record number of goals in the Premier League this season is that in comparison with previous seasons the percentage of penalties successfully converted has increased significantly.

Which doesn't, of course, alter the fact that our defending has been........

Every team in the league has conceded 50+ goals apart from Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool and Everton.

That's a record.

Post WW2, most goals per game conceded in the top division is Ipswich in 63/64 at 2.88 (121 in 42 games).

United are currently at 2.77 with 3 games to go. To break the record, United would need to concede 110 total. So that's 13 more in the last 3. Sadly, not at all out of the question

Worst goal difference per game since WW2 is 'that' Derby team at -1.82 per game.

United are currently at -1.8 per game. If United lose the last 3 by a combined margin of 7 or more, another record is in the bag

I'm not interested in record stuff.
We beat Port Vale 10-0 once but we won't do it ever again
Portsmouth have lost 18 times out of last 20 times they've visited the lane the other 2 were draws
60 odd years no pompey win at lane
We spent 6 years in league one, derby have just got promoted in 2 and have 60 million to spend .
I'm more interested in clearing the dead wood at the lane, I trust in wilder and hearing him speak he's more determined than ever.
Keep the nucleus of the youth plus boggle , hamer , Robinson
Sign a couple of top centre half's like we had in oconnel and eagan and go again .

Was the record Derby with 89 goals in a 38 games season?

3 games left and we've conceded 97 fucking hell.

We have conceded 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 8 goals in a game this season. Just need a 7 to complete the sequence. Mind you the way we don't defend we might also get a 9 and 10 in the other 2 games.

We've conceded 51 goals at home in the Premier League this season.

It took Petr Cech six seasons to concede that many home goals from the start of his Premier League career.
