Certainly not 'dog shit'. No win to me is ever dog shit.
It wasn't stellar, it wasn't great, hell - the best I could say about our performance was 'dogged' but we got exactly what we needed missing a few key players and with a few still getting settled in.
I'll get the negatives out the way first...
Lafferty doesn't look to be any better than Hussey to me, great cross for the goal and good header off the line at the end but he looks lightweight, poor in possession and seems to have 'blank' moments.
Our game management after the goal and subsequent sending off was poor, we really should've killed them off. The players desire to keep the clean sheet was admirable but really we should've killed them off. Fair play to them for making attacking subs after that, they really went for us and were unlucky not to get a point.
Duffy had a shocker, which he tends to. I'd love to see him take his man on and cross like a winger should when he gets himself down the channels. Perfect chance to give Brooks 20 mins yesterday because we would've lost nothing creatively as he was very very off colour. Really hit and miss but he will earn us more points than he loses us this season.
We still don't seem to close down enough on the edge of the box, if Moore's handling wasn't as good as it is then there only needs to be one fumble and it's a tap in. GET OUT!!!
Everyones favourite now, the positives.
JO'C and EEL are the most solid dependable centre halves we've had since Maguire. Head it, kick it, knee it, bollock it. Doesn't matter, just get a body part on it. JO'C in particular is a very good footballer too which is helpful, EEL much more of your Morgan type which is a pleasant surprise.
Moore breeds confidence to his whole team. One unclaimed corner all game which in fairness could've been a disaster but keepers make mistakes. Luckily he happens to make very few, money well spent.
Done is really proving his worth, whether it can work long term who knows but in games like yesterday which are tight and scrappy affairs they're ideal for him. He didn't get much change from their defence but he kept them on their toes all night.
Nice to see Chapman get on the scoresheet and hopefully he can build on that now.
And last but not least... Paul Coutts. What a footballer, black boots too tonight which made me like him even more. Immense and like a completely new signing.
That was a game we would've lost last season, the season before, probably the 2 seasons before that as well. They're a much better side than people are giving them credit for. Boateng is EXACTLY the type of midfielder we need and Harrison really tested our centre halves time and time again. They were organised, resiliant and unfazed and will be closer to the top 6 than the bottom 4 come may.
6 unbeaten now, 6th in the league after an awful start and things are really starting to take shape. We're getting there, 2 home clean sheets on the bounce against 2 difficult opponents. Onto Fleetwood now, another good side and another difficult game but play like we have recently away from home and it'll be 7 unbeaten,
Fortress Bramall Lane is on it's way back, slowly but surely.
