To use a cliché, some players need an arm around the shoulder, some need a kick up the arse. Clough clearly specialised in the kick up the arse approach which didn't work with Taylor.

Having said that, best of luck to him, was always a frustrating player who looked like he had potential but never seemed to fulfil it. Wish he could have succeeded at the Lane but it didn't happen and now probably best for us and him to move on.

Why would he come back here though even if we wanted him? Looks like a London type to me and he'll get better offers if he starts next season well. Born Greenwich.

Sorry fellas, he's probably out of our league. He'll steer well clear of gritty managers and clubs north of Watford Gap now he has a choice.

I had this "tattoo story" in mind when Taylor scored. He took off his shirt and...he doesn't appear to have any tattoos on his upper torso.

We don't need any more forwards.
 
Seems like most people either think he's rubbish or are desperate to have him back reading this thread. I'm somewhere in between.

In terms of him signing for us, I think it's a non-starter: not only has he had a bad experience here, but also he's probably not the sort of player we'd be looking at. We have plenty of forwards and can only see CW signing another in the battering ram/target man type role.

In terms of his ability, I think it's safe to say he didn't show much while he was here other than the odd glimmer, but that means very little imo. Plenty of players haven't been utilised correctly here and gone onto be good players. Leon Britton for example. Seems he's just reaching his peak now and looks capable of scoring goals in L1 which I'd assume is his level.

There's another goal scorer in L2 who's far more suitable and been mentioned in a couple of threads already:

I don't think we'll go into next season without more height and pace.

My total guess, McNulty and Done to leave. Adams to play much deeper.

Two new players.

Overall, maybe 12 or 13, maybe more if we can shift most of those on the transfer list.

Bit worrying when you might normally say 5 new signings is too many to settle in all at once!:eek:

Perversely Woody, I think the more new arrivals the less of a problem with settling in you have. There's nothing to settle in to! Might affect the odd one or two still around more than the newbies.

I agree. Chris Powell at Charlton signed up a whole new 1st team and enough for the reserves as well and they didn't too badly if winning this league is doing too badly.
 
He's an international footballer with a goal every 2 games at that level. We'd be mad to pass it up.

In addition, if you focus on his performance for the Blades under Morgan, he had a goal a game. Well worth a try.
