Interesting first leg play off stats

A quick bit of research into the 70 second tier play off semi first legs since 1988 and the percentages of the fist leg home teams who got to the final based on their first leg result

FL home team lost by 2 or more. Happened 8 times, O reached final success rate 0%

FL home team lost by 1. Happened 12 times, 1 reached final. Success rate 8%

FL draw .Happened 22 times, home team reached final 10 times..Success rate. 45%

FL home team win by 1..Happened 20 times, 10 reached final. Success rate 50%

FL home team win by 2 or more . Happened 8 times. All reached final. Success rate 100%

So bottom line we need to win by 2 :)

Simplifying this.

Home team who have drawn or won first leg have made final 28 out of 52 times. So as long as we at least draw we have a better than 50% chance.

Of the home team to lose by any score, only 1 team in 20 attempts have made the final.

I would still take a draw at this point in time.

Huddersfield scored at Hillsborough. Can't remember who but I know fletcher scored for Wednesday

records are their to be broken
Forest had only won 1 first away leg at Yeovil 2.-0 then lost 5-2at home to Yeovil

which made a lie of the fact that no teams have come back for a win
