Today was the most obvious evidence of how much Hecky would have been relying on Ndiaye to press, to carry the ball and create openings.
Without that option we look largely bereft of any ideas other than a lump up to McBurnie (as well as he played) and hope for the best.
The current set-up gets very little out of Hamer and the inability to keep possession is more than worrying. We need a re-think about how we're going to line-up as the current balance of the side isn't working.

Funny old thing aren't they, opinions?

Souza has shown he's a great CDM, happy to do the destructive work yet can get forward. He'll get more match-fit as time goes on.
Hamer can play in a CM role, but is great going forward.
We know how good McAtee is, is SO creative. Can be box-to-box, link the attack.

Also, a lot more mobility & pace.

Then having Slimane, Davies, Norwood to come on, isn't bad.

Funny how we’re scoring goals against PL defences isn’t it 🤔

Puer oh Puer oh Puer

Are you related to Stego???

Today the midfield were sat on top of defence and the disconnect from attack was glaringly obvious ….

We struggle in possession. Others may laugh and call silly names as they can’t formulate a strong case against but near enough every pundit has said the same, opposition managers + hecky at times.

If you watch other teams than united you will realise we have a long way to go. Not to say that what we are doing is not effective but could be vastly improved/refined. It’s early in the season though and hopefully with mcatee and some more weeks together with the squad gelling together we will see improvements.

Ndiaye doesn't live here anymore. Move on . The lads need time to gel. How stupid can people be?
Remember last season when Forrest signed all their player and everyone around here were saying "too many new players, they'll take ages to gel" now they want 10 new lads to walk in and play like they've known each other for 5 seasons.

I'm sure you're all going through the multiple stages but.. Illys gone ladies and gents, it's time you accepted that.

Until mcatee is involved I can't really fairly judge but we absolutely don't have the press we had last season. Hamer was touted as some as the Berge replacement but in terms of creativity and busyness much more like Ndayie

Just as he did against Man City in the cup semi last season ?

N'diaye is struggling in a top team in an inferior league, nothing is guaranteed about him stepping up

As an aside anybody else thrilled we got Archer over Akpom? I knew which one we needed but seeing him yesterday he looks much much better than I thought he was.

Ndiaye would have stepped up no doubt about it, goal against Spurs last season as a benchmark?

By the same token there is no guarantee that Mcatee will step up. He’s a kid with no premier league experience however I’m delighted we’ve got him because I really rate him.

Thought Norwood was decent yesterday, just wish he’d play 20 yards further up the pitch at times

I agree

Can’t play Norwood and Souza in the same team - both slow us down. Not sure in any way what Souza offers when played with Norwood

As you say we didn’t get Hamer into the game enough especially 2nd half .

Be a real problem for Hecky - perhaps Davis comes in ?

There's a reason he doesn't.

He regularly gets caught ahead of the ball even from a DM role so playing higher up + having no pace = he'd be bypassed as if he wasn't even there.
