Couldn’t believe it when my phone rang today
“number withheld” and a familiar sounding voice said...” is that Cerbie?”. I knew instantly it was Chris Wilder!
“Been readin’ some of the stuff you write on S24SU”, he said. “It’s obvious you know what you’re talking about an I’d like to ask your advice?” .
“Of course” I said, slightly flabbergasted. “Is it about pork pies, sausage rolls or underpants?”. I asked.
“Nah! Abart the derby” he said. “What team do you reckon a should pick? They performed like a reight set of fannies at Forest so am thinking of shaking it up again”.
I said to him the following...
Whatever tha does Chris...gerron’t offensive from t’ start. Them grunters soon get ‘ead darn if they go a goal behind, just don’t let them get their snouts in front!
Starting with the defence: Freeman needs dropping for a start. Way off the pace for me. Looks lazy and half arsed. Give Baldrick a go instead. Cranie did oreight, but he’s not very exciting is he? He’s steady and reliable, but it’s got to be Bash in place of him.
In midfield, I reckon tha dropped a reight bollock at Forest dropping McGoldrick. He did reight well in that number 10 role in the previous match behind Clarke and Sharpe. Made Clarke a lot more effective. I know tha wants to get Coutts match fit but put him on t bench and bring him on later when tha wants to kill t game off.
“”Wor Abart Duffy?” he asked.
“As much as I rate him I’d have him on bench an all for start of this one and let Goldie keep the shirt for now. Bring Duffy on if we need to add a create spark”.
“Up front, Sharpe and Clarke - no question”.
Then he said:
“Woodburn?”
and I said “ it does doesn’t it!’
What would you have telled him?
