Mate - I think we all know, but are reluctant to accept yet, that our towering force of a centre back is done with pro football.

It's possibly the saddest outcome of the past five breathtaking years and his absence has overlaid our decline, which shows what he means to the club and it's supporters.

Not sure there is a "squad list" in the Championship. I thought this was just the Prem?

The only official squad list that counts is the one Ball_Sup (Phil) produces!

I went looking for one yesterday and I found something that looks like an EFL squad list from 2021 released in February.

Shirt numbers and submitted squads are different. O'Connell is still officially our #5 but I'd be astounded if he gets a place in the 25 unless it's for sentimental reasons. That said, with the trimming of the fat (including Mousset and Freeman...arf) from the squad in January we're down to 21 senior pros by my count. We submitted a squad of 22 in September without O'Connell, we then added Guedioura and Eastwood to that.

3 GKs: Foderingham, A Davies^, Eastwood
5 CBs: Basham, B Davies, Egan, Goode^, Robinson
4 WBs: Baldock, Bogle, Norrington-Davies, Stevens
5 CMs: Berge, Fleck, Hourihane, Norwood, Osborn
4 CFs: McBurnie, McGoldrick, Sharp

U21s (no need to register in the 25): Brewster, Gibbs-White, Gordon, Jebbison, Ndiaye

Removed: Freeman, Guedioura, Mousset, Olsen, Slater
