Duff did say in the after match interview that he expects a couple of his players to leave, and Mads Juel Andersen will be in the last year of his contract after June 30th.

25 years old and Danish.

He's an out and out centre back though so unless brought in as competition for Egan I can't see it because Egan will almost certainly be first choice next season. I know Egan can play LCB as he does for Ireland but he' never played there for us. I can see us signing Jonny Evans on a free who can cover Egan but not cost anything, granted there's wages, leaving Egan as first choice. I think Egan will be first choice for at least two more seasons personally.

I can't see us going for Coady either for the same reason although he can play centre mid as he did for us but he'll be on huge wages and hasn't played centre mid for years to my knowledge.

Taking into consideration the money situation and the reality of who we're going to be able to sign I would like us to see go for players like this. Signing Evans or Coady would be good, but if we didn't stay up next season then we are in the same situation of having high earners down in the championship.

And now that Kasper has been signed up by Barnsley does this become more likely?

Only seen him a couple of times or so.

Looked OK but no idea if he's up to the PL or not.

Gerrimin.

Just thinking aloud really. There must be a logical reason why they have taken on Lopata. Given our history of bringing on League One players who knows

Seen him a few times this season and he looks half decent but I’d hope we’re looking at better.

Looks like he could have a decent career in the championship but looks miles off the prem imo.

No one at all stood out in the play off final as being anywhere near what we should be signing this summer imo.

He looked decent in the middle for Wednesday......the referee!

Honestly I just don't get the 'he looks miles off the PL' statement that some are saying. How exactly? What are his obvious weak points? What could he do better ? His marking at set plays? His pace? If the latter, John Egan is hardly a sprinter and probably no quicker than Andersen ? so what is A's obvious deficiency that makes him short of PL quality in peoples opinion on here?

Not disputing peoples opinion of him as we all see different things, but genuinely what is it that people see (or don't see) that makes him look short of say our own John Egan, in potential? I just see Andersen as a leader and a solid centre half who is no slouch. Not saying he is what we need, just genuinely interested in hearing what others see (in his weaknesses) that are readily apparent to a mere mortal like me? Other than pace....(which Egan for example is hardly blessed with but makes up for it in know how).

And in any case, he's young for a CB

If it is pace (and I don't know as I have better things to do than watching Barnsley), then it's not his lack of pace on his own that is going to be an issue. It's going to be his lack of pace next to Egan, who also has no pace, which is going to be an issue. You can cover up one slow centre back, two becomes an enormous liability

fair point - its very difficult to measure a player against 'PL standard' when hes plying his trade 2 divisions lower - however you could say the same about Illy (albeit 1 div gap), never played EPL but you can just see something.
Andersen looks a decent CB, but going from playing Lincoln and the pigs to Man City & Arsenal is a very big ask of a young lad

Also as someone mentions, we need some pace in the backline, Egan gets away with been in the right place (most of the time) but up against Jesus, Haaland, Rashford, Saka, Nunez etc Egan will get turned and we need someone to cover the ground and get a block in - otherwise were going to have to sit deep so there is no space behind, but thats us camped in our own half with 25% possession and there are very few teams in the world who can do that

I would see Andersen as direct competition/cover for John Egan and he would be a one a a couple we should go for at the back. He's the sort of player we should be targeting I e. young, a leader, and a decent reputation who with coaching could become the next Egan for us long term. We do need more pace at the back though granted but I think i could be a decent pick up at the right price and would prove to be an astute signing. Maybe PH and PM have seen better though. Hopefully they have.

Luton in for him….

They have certainly recruited well to this point
