Alan Nixon and subsequently, Sheffield United Way have rumoured that Phil Jones could be joining our coaching set up as part of a shake up which has seen Alan Knill depart. Phil Jones is currently first team coach at Blackburn who finished with bottom in the Championship this season.

Happy to be surprised with this one. I thought the appointment and subsequent parting with Keith Andrews was mad and then glad. Turns out, l/we have no idea how good a player turned coach can be. Hindsight would suggest Andrews would have been a good person to keep around.

Maybe Jones can offer something. If nothing else, you'd have thought, coming up under Ferguson would teach you something. Not that that has helped the Nevilles into successful management careers....

Saw some Blackburn fans saying he wants the U21's job at theirs but only if Owners/Mowbray wants him around still.

Can't comment on if he's a good coach or not cause I ant got a clue but with Keith Andrews you knew he was full of football knowledge before with his punditry

What was the method here; Keith Andrews slipped through the net - who else would look good made in to a garden gnome… 💡

Probably the most important signing of the summer will be a new coach.

Young and has coaching experience, played at the highest level, played under top coaches. Will have learnt a lot while having new young ideas suiting the modern game.

Basically everything people are wanting either to help Wilder or for our future. So get him in, time will tell if he’s any good but on paper I don’t see it as a risk and it’s certainly worth giving him a chance on our coaching staff.

But he's never played for us so surely that rules him out.

I'm surprised we're not issuing him with a squad number and attempting to get him back out there, Jack Rodwell-style.

People are quick to write him off because he wasn't the most glamorous of player.
He still got 27 caps for England. No mean feat.

When he first broke through at man united he was a beast of a player unfortunately injuries took the edge off him . Non of it really relevant to his new coaching career other than the fact he was in a top drawer club for 12 years

Mark my words if we aren’t int top 6 by Christmas Wilder will be out and Jones’s in as manager until end of season then…….
