Ben Osborn will rarely be the match winner and will rarely be the man of the match, but the one thing he is in general is consistent and solid in an unspectacular way.

Looking forward to next season, very early doors I know, but we need a total rebuild of our midfield. Lundstram is gone (bye, don't forget to shut the door on your way to warming a bench), Fleck has been continually crap for nearly 18 months since the restart last season, and Norwood has to be our most consistently inconsistent player. A man who can ping the ball with the outside of his boot from 50 yards and make it land on a 10p, but can't pick a simple pass from ten yards or put in a corner kick that gets past the near post.

Under Hecky in recent weeks we've seen him choosing more consistent players and it's had some impact. The returns of Osborn and McGoldrick (a player often left out by Wilder, even when fully fit), has seen some better ball retention and improved performances in the closing games, and it got me thinking, could Ben Osborn be our new Norwood for next season in the midfield rebuild?

He hasn't got the pace to play full back as he gets caught out of position, but he is good at tackling and works really hard as he never stops running. So he'd be useful as a defensive midfielder in front of the back 3/4. On top of that he has got a decent enough engine to venture forward in a box to box role and had a nice range of passing. We know he's good in the Championship as he played at that level on a weekly basis for Florist.
