"Jordan Slew netted a hat-trick as the Blades U18s notched an impressive 4-3 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday."

A place on the bench tomorrow night? Nobody else is scoring at the moment.

(If they're good enough, they're old enough, etc.)

Probably a good shout Broomers with Ward suspended. Got to blood some youngsters at some stage - we aint going to buy anyone.

More than likely be a bench warmer at best though. Boggy is not getting a look in (probably cos Budgie doesn't see him as being able to play the lone ranger up front) so an U18 is not likely to get anywhere near a game.

I have actually suggested to the manager of non league club based not too far away that he has a look at Slew, think he may be ready for next step but not our first team yet.

I didn't go to the match today. Did Slew look any good during his 10-minute cameo?

He's been at it again!

"Jordan Slew scored his third hat-trick of the season as United's U18s eased to a 4-0 success against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Slew's treble, his second in as many matches, takes his tally to 11 for the season, as John Pemberton's youngsters made it four matches unbeaten in the FA Premier Academy League, with fellow striker Joe Ironside also on target."

To be fair it's more than Boggy did. If only it was Slew on the penalty spot when that cross came in :)

give the kid a start, what harm can it do?? though it depends how the kids play... someone must be creating these chances??? looks good for the future as long as mccabe keeps his selling mitts off for a year or two

When I saw him in the reserves last season he looked to have potential and scored in the game. The lad who scored for Watford against us was only 18 so why not give Slew at least half a game.

i said something similar during that match: "that sordell kid looks qui... oh, good goal, slew might be able to do that!"

I said he needs a step up - thought that should be at a lower level but now I also wonder what we have to lose by giving him a start, surely that would be easier for him than the last 5 when the pressure is on. He is fast and at the academy level is too powerful for the defenders, it is this side that may let him down slightly at present, the other thing that is good to see is that he strikes the ball well with both feet and is quite skillful also

Absolutely nowt to lose starting the lad. His confidence will be sky high, and i'm sure he'd be full of energy and running. Play him alongside Cress.
Come On Blades.

Oh jeez, now we're going to have to put up with all the "slew the opposition" headlines to go with all the blunt blade / sharp blade nonsense.

I could cope with that. Get him in.

Blade / Slew - it's a Star Reporters wet dream.

Is he the new Deano? - Got the hair for it anyway (later Deano of course)

I think there is a bit of Deano about him but lets not overburden him at this early stage

Saw him a couple of times last season and have to concur. It is one thing having a battle or bullying your own age range but quite something else coming up against a Chris Morgan on a Saturday afternoon.
Hope he can make the step up because he looks OK.
