What end of season scenario would you prefer now?

I’d go for the play offs option with a chance to stay in a division where we can compete and not just keep getting our arses handed to us on a weekly basis.

You've obviously not read the small print.

Its common knowledge on here that more than 2 seasons out of the prem = the club dying a miserable death. Just like the other 70 teams thar are about to go out of business any... second.... now...

Would a playoff final win really be that special? I think it would be more a feeling of relief rather than a massive celebration.

After yo-yoing between the Premier League and Championship in recent years the promotions don’t have that same magic as the Warnock and Wilder promotions had. So for that reason, I want us in the Premier League by any means possible, become established and get to Wembley in the FA Cup or League Cup.

Let’s win a proper trophy!

weve still a great chance of automatic but somethings telling me we havent seen the last of sunderland 🤔🤔

How about we finish 2nd and Wendy or any other shite team we can finish above next year win the play-offs?

You need to see a psychiatrist.

What if we lost? Can just see it, we finish 20points ahead of them but they beat us 1-0 at Wembley

If we can't beat the pigs with our wealth of talent compared to their shower of shit, then we deserve everything we get. Man up. Think positive.

I love a big day out at Wembley ive been to every play off & cup semi home & away since pigs in 1993 ...
That's 32 years of big game disappointment.......
Out of the lot I think the one that hurt the most was wolves in 03 ....and Huddersfield when we were leading 2-0 after 2 pens how we contrived to fuck that up god only knows
Surely it's gotta be our time .....

matt lowton if he had put his penalty away to make it 3 - 1 i very much doubt we would have lost that one the rest is history

How many of those 70 teams have our level of costs to pay for?

Because of the wage bill any extended stay in this division means the team would have to be dismantled and the best players sold. Unless of course the owners pump cash in and of course it’s common knowledge on here they’ve got no money.

It hardly needs a rocket scientist like intelligence to grasp the concept.

We’ve had to stand by and watch so many wanker teams lift that famous old trophy, I would really like us to go up as Champions for a change…Come on Blades, let’s go and win the flippin thing.

It’s 25 players, same as every other team.
25 players...plus as many u21s as you like.

A lot of clubs have a 20-25 man squad of mainly first team level players, who are fit and able to provide depth and competition, that is then supported by some promising u21s.

We have a 15 man squad, supported by a couple of players that we've wanted to bring in from the academy (Arblaster, Brooks) and a lot of players that we've had to bring in from the academy a lot sooner than we'd have liked, due to injuries (Peck, Seriki, Oné, Marsh, Blacker).

Some of these have worked out really well and proven to be capable of holding their own in the first team, some have had a stuttering start to life in the first team and some haven't got on the bench because they should clearly be out on loan to get game time...but the point is that we have an amazing lack of depth...backed up by the fact that young players who should obviously be out on loan are having to stay and warm up the bench.

It's unsurprising, given the size of the rebuild we had to do in the summer (another story altogether, and Wilder et al did a remarkable job of rebuilding the team) but the fact remains that we're very thin on the ground in terms of squad depth.

Out of those 15 "proper" squad players...Brewster is sadly always an injury waiting to happen, Tom Davies is just coming back from a very long layoff, as is RND, Moore has already missed a few games injured, Campbell is injured as we speak, as is Souza...and one of them is Adam Davies.

It's fair to say our squad is pretty tiny.

As I’ve fortunately not got memory loss, 2nd place. The “chance” to get promoted at Wembley as a Sheffield United fan is not very alluring.

If you were offered the below now would you take:

Second place and promotion - something we have done twice in the last few years and four times in living memory.

Finishing 3 - 6 and a play off final (not winning the play offs, just being at the point of winning the semi) - yes we are shit at them but the potential to go up winning what would be the biggest game of lots of our lives and probably the biggest game/trophy we are likely to ever get the chance to win at Wembley in our lifetimes.

I know that's quite defeatist but honestly the chances of us winning a major trophy become slimmer by the year, I really want to shuffle off this earth, rolling a seven having seen us win something at Wembley. The only realistic way to do that currently is in a play off final. I'd love us to win the league but, failing that, I honestly would be ok with a play off final appearance rather than finishing second again and it has been long enough since our last final fuck up for me to get excited by it.
Whoa.

What the hell is wrong with you?

Can the 20 people who voted for option 2 please get in touch. I've got a bridge in Brooklyn that you might be interested in buying from me, such are you great powers of judgment.

Grind our way to the PL to get thumped each week vs a chance of a big day out before getting thumped each week. Big day out please.

It still baffles me how most of our fanbase hold simonsen to account for us not winning the shootout, if you are a keeper and you save 2 of the 4 penalties on target out of the initial 5 and another is wide then it is your teammates fault it goes to sudden death not yours
