They sank to a new depth (if that is possible for them).
I went to Derby, enjoyed a few beers match before the match with a group of mates. Went to the match and met up with the said mates after and a Derby fan i work with, before heading in to Derby town centre and a few more beers in the Walkabout and watched the first half of Spurs v Man Utd.
We then headed back to Sheffield to meet a couple of more mates and the rest of the lads were having a night out up town whilst i was having one and then retiring home for the night due to having work this morning.
We got back to Sheffield at about half 7, and walked from the train station towards town, there was a group of Forest fans outside the Howard. We was not wearing colours and not out for trouble. It was just a group of lads enjoying a few beers without being lairy and looking for a fight with the nearest set of neanderthal creatures.
What happened was we walked past the group of Forest for them to let us past and then chuck a load of beer glasses and bottles at us, one of which very nearly took the back of my head off. We then legged it up the hill and another set of them came steaming out of the Globe and we legged it as quickly as we could away from them.
A couple of the lads i had been to the match with got caught by the forest lot and got turned over whilst the rest of us managed to get away, but the bottom line was there must have been about 50 of them knocking about in both boozers, and there was a group of 9 of us.
Its alright for them to fight with like minded individuals, but for them to go after a small group of lads not looking for troubles smacks of cowardice, and if i had taken the pint pot they threw at me on the back of my head then i would probably have gone down and been in for the kicking of my life there and then.
I have been around a long time, and i'm no angel but i leave the football aggro to the neanderthals but what happened yesterday plunged my opinion of Forest to a new low, and i genuinely feel lucky that i managed by the grace of god to get away from them.
And where was our beloved South Yorkshire Police, nowhere to be seen
