Blackburn Match Preview

As I said before... I'm going to start using some of your quotes in my match reports to give a more varied view of the match.

I aim to use two members' posts in their full unedited version and glean the best of the rest one-liners from the rest of the posts... therefore, if you post a comment about the match in this thread, you're agreeing to being quoted (fully credited of course). Balanced posts without swearing or any libel views If you wish your views to be annoynmous... PM me saying so with an alternative name to use.

Whilst this thread is open for comments now, it's main use will be post-match and the MOTM poll will be added here after the match and an "official" thread will be opened by either me or Foxy for each home match.

If anyone wishes to write anything more extensive about the match or the Blades, my door (well, my inbox) is always open as our attentions turn to affiliations with our cousins across the pond (but more of that later!)

Well... a tale of three missed penalties.

What were your views on the game? Who shone and who was shite?

Sommeil was man of match for me.

Man of match for the game has to be Friedel, without him they would have got battered!

Another difficult one for me.

I didn't think anyone had a bad game, which is good.

Hulse and Nade worked hard up front. Jags and Morgs were sound at the back. Armstrong worked hard and showed a piece of class when he beat a player all ends up and played a great ball into Hulse.

Sommeil showed us why he was bought with a superb display. CKR showed good control and a willingness to run at people.

After much thought, I must pick Leigertwood though for coming in, after being written off by a lot of Blades, and giving a commanding performance in the position we find hard to fill.

if it wasn't for Friedel today we would have scored plenty by Blackburn. We've really upped our game and have created quite a few chances, only to be denied by the man of the match. I admit I feel a little gutted we didn't convert the 2 penalties but I do feel positive we're improving and things are looking bright.

I'll admit to critcising Leigertwood after the Fulham game - probably due to frustration at the time - but today, he commanded the midfield well. Jagielka was solid in defence and was my man of the match, him and Morgan both kept Jeffers and McCarthy both quiet.

All in all, I think thanks to the international break it's allowed our team to gel together.

i enjoyed the match was a good game leigertwood and sommeil were two of the best on the pitch, thought nade was maybe a bit stupid for the little disagreement before our 2nd pen nice one to sommeil for sorting that out. My personal thought is that the ref didnt show enough yellows.

Overall MOTM has to be that huge bald giraffe in goal for Blackburn. For us, I think Jags just shaded it. CKR looks a lively little rascal, be interesting to see how he develops this season.
Worst bit outside the ground was being goosed by the new pricing in the Cremorne! It's changed hands and got more expensive it seems. The only reason we don't go in the Lion is the long walk to the chippy after! Lazy old gits....

Most entertaining 0-0 I have seen at the lane to date! 3 Penalties (with no cards shown on them) 3 great saves from those penalties, a solid performance by all but I think Leigertwood gets my man of the match vote. Even if the worst happens and we go down if we get games like that to watch every week it will not be dull

Jagielka was awesome today he looks really god there

but leggy gets my vote today thought he was amazing!

A great effort all around. Defensively we were solid and neutralized an offence that is about to enter European football while creating our own chances. Kenny and Hulse look real comfortable in the Premiership. Without Webber getting hurt it might have been a different result. Nade and Kazim-Richards have lots of energy and talent but not his maturity, they play in too much of a rush. Overall, we deserve to be in this league and will give it a good run. Look forward to the next game.

that was a quality game of football, played in a good atmospher. Both teams I thought should be given praise, it was open and honest.

I thought the Blades were superb though and left with a renewed confidence in our chances, to a man the players showed what they were made of, it was fantastic.
