Is there an argument for this back 3 tonight? It would certainly give us height, However:

Jacky Long Throw is such a liability,

We dont actually know how Good Goode is

Should you ever break up a winning team?

Jacky Long Throw is such a liability,
Harsh. Probably better phrased as has the potential to make a goal costing mistake, but has also put in some solid games where let nothing past him

For what it's worth, I know Davies first game back in a while but don't think he was way better than Robinson's last few games.

I agree we don't know how good, Goode is... but... you've seen Robinson defend surely?
And you want to play him when all they do is pump high balls into the box? 🤔

The only change to the back 3 and Wes will be if we lose badly or injuries. We may give a rest with subs to the defenders if we are coasting 3 & 4 up with 10-15 minutes to go. Bash/Egan and Davies are the best we can put out and they know each others games - particularly Egan who is now the defacto sweeper again for the players either side, but equally for Norwood who sits in front. It's no surprise that Norwood looks much better with him knowing Egan is behind. As for Egan - he has a few faults but he is again relishing being back in a 3. Bash is just a bloody robot and although Davies is a little suspect, Egan is now closer to him so is able to cover which wasn't quite the case under Slav in a 4.

The managerial headache is what to do in midfield and up top and what tweaks to formation to make. 352 worked well v Brum away from home but we need to be a little more adventurous at home. Hecky has got everything available to him in that department and it will be interesting to see what he does tonight.

To be fair to CW - he was the master at bringing in reserves and still making the team perform with tweaks to players - lets hope Hecky has that ability too.

Why would you ever drop Ben Davies for Jack Robinson?

Not at all convinced by Davies a mistake free C3PO is stronger.
Mistake free Jack Robinson? 😂

Fuck me, I’m not at all convinced by Wes, an Adam Davies that would save every shot beamed at him and come and claim every single corner and set piece without hesitation is stronger.

Got a feeling Wes will be put under some big pressure tonight, not the greatest at all at coming out for high balls. Let's hope he doesn't crumble.
Up to you Wes.

Because he's better in the air than Davies? Davies is a very good defender, reading the game well and has good passing ability. However, he gets bullied and isn't great aerially. If WBA are planning on hoofball then swapping him for Robinson isn't as absurd as it may seem.

Current back 3 should be able to mark 2 forwards plus a CB comfortably with any long throw. Two things caused a problem for us at WBA. First was that Verrips was scared as fuck of anyone bigger than a Hobbit. Wes isn't the biggest, and is well down the order of any keeper I've seen playing for us, but he does have more balls and strength than Verrips. Second problem was that the wet dishcloth that is Berge seemed to want to go and tell his Mum about that nasty Kyle Bartley being too rough with him when they were jumping. For fuck's sake, if Berge plays, don't let him anywhere near our area for WBA throws. The guy couldn't jump if Jennifer Aniston dropped her drawers right in front of him. It needs a forward to come back to mark Bartley. Well anyone but Berge actually. Even Fleck. And no, I'm not kidding......

Stop watching football immediately

Ben Davies is bigger than JLT. Robinson had a nightmare with the high balls in the earlier fixture too.
He wasn't on his own. Not as good as Davies but definitely stronger, bigger or not.

I haven't seen any evidence of this myself. JLT was part of the defence that got bullied against Birmingham and Preston earlier in the season and they are two other direct sides.

There'll probably be 50% of the ground wanking like mad if he makes a mistake. Some of our fans are desperate for him to cost us a goal.

I'm not saying he's the answer but horses for courses. If Davies plays and West Brom go long I think it's the wrong choice. Davies was at fault for Brums goal last Friday IMO but it doesn't get mentioned. Had that been Robinson he'd have been hung out to dry.

But it wasn't due to a lack of strength. I just genuinely don't see any upgrade in putting in Robinson above Davies no matter who we play. I can understand the argument with Goode as he's a massive bloke who is known for putting his head in but Robinson isn't that kind of player.
