That’s one thing that’s changed since Slav went. And I think the players need to look at themselves for that.
There were times we got nowhere near the opposition, and that’s not tactical - they were showing absolutely no bottle. Was it a lack of confidence in themselves? Feeling sorry for themselves? Or just plain lazy?
Whatever it was, was lacking in buckets. None of that today or, bar Derby, in any of Hecky’s games.
Norwood has learned how to put his foot in and has shown some bollocks - in turn has really improved and become undroppable once more.
Egan - not at all powderpuff today against Andy Carroll, but was getting beaten up by every striker he came up against earlier in the season.
Bogle, fantastic improvement defensively and now these knocks he gets he’s just playing through them whereas last season he might’ve been subbed off for.
A marked improvement. And an absolutely viral one - but where’s it been?
And gamesmanship too, props for that. If that was Norwood would probably not have stayed down for that Livermore horror tackle - and there’s a chance he’d not have been sent off. Very clever, it was a 100% red but it was nice to see him make sure he got what he deserved.
Very important, and paired with the momentum we have it’s very impressive and there’s no reason at all why we can’t at the very least make the top 6. Like Forest we have come into some serious form at the right time. But we cannot take our eye off the ball in these next run of winnable games, a Derby performance is only ever one game away.
And thank fuck for Billy Sharp, let’s keep writing him off at our peril. He thrives on it
