The only club splashing the cash this window is Villa because they need a first choice striker and midfielder. They will probably end up paying over the odds on a punt then be stuck with whoever they sign in the Championship. We're seventh in the league, we don't need to do that at this stage surely and I don't think Wilder would want to?

Yeah you’re right, but he’s always had the caveat that it has to be the right player and he’s not just going to sign players for the sake of it. I’m sure the other day he also did an interview when he said “I spend the clubs money as if it was my own, that’s why the board trust me”.
