West Brom & Wilder

West Brom have proven changing manager at this stage of the season is a complete waste of time. I suggest we all get behind Wilder and have faith he will eventually turn things round.
Agree. Norwich stuck with Farke and they were relegation certainties from Day 1 last season playing similarly to us. Losing a lot but not getting hammered. Now top of the league with all their best players at the club. Sack farke and pukki, Cantwell and Buendia are gone. Same will happen to us if wilder goes. If he stays O’Connell, Egan, Berge might just give us one more season to try and get us up.

So, West Brom don’t seem to have had been lucky or having had made the right decision here in order to boost their possibilities of staying up in the Prem. This time. They gave it a try, I give them that. Awyways, are you really saying that because WBA seem to have failed in their attempt to salvage their position as a PL team by changing a manager during the season 20/21, no one shouldn’t have attemped the same before, no one should attempt it again, and because it hasn’t seem to have worked out for WBA this year, no other team should ever attempt it again?? WTF.

West Brom may well go down but big Sam has only been there for a few games!

Big Sam has successfully kept up every side he has moved to part way through a season, so the opening statement is incorrect.

The reason it is a 'waste of time', is not because of the time of change, it's because there is no relegation battle for a side on 2 points after 17 games.

I completely agree. I don’t feel he deserves to keep his job in all honesty in the modern day of football, but what’s the point of sacking him. There’s no one better available and it’s his squad of players signed for his unique system.

It’s hardly like we can bring someone in and give them £50-60m to sign their own players fitting their own system.

Not similar to us they tried to play expansive football two centre backs of quality they would have stayed up

I think it is a little different. WBA have been yo-yoing for a number of seasons. For us at this point, I don't think relegation in itself, defines stagnation or going backwards at this stage ( although the way we go about getting relegated might). Of course bigger picture, if they had been more patient with their previous managers, they might have a team more capable of sustaining itself in the Prem.

Too early to know how West Brom will do under Big Sam but it was always going to be tough whoever they have. Big Sam will be relying on wheeling and dealing this January but their league position means he'll face problems attracting players of quality, other than loans I would guess.

Saying that, I don't think we missed the trick in sacking Wilder, even for a relegation survival specialist such as Big Sam.

Had 3 players lined up from Europe that have fallen through cos of new post Brexit work permit rules apparently .

I laughed but if it's now harder to sign players from Europe then we all know that the dmoestic market becomes even more harder to fish in. However as we have the parachute money we'll be in the best position next season over other teams in the Champ, unless we do the unthinkable!

Think it will make it harder for clubs like us to pick up bargains abroad now, if we were to start going down that road. From what I read the points system for allocating work permits takes into account the level of achievement the player has had, so would favour the big hitters in the PL.

If Nicola sturgeon gets her way will that inflate the price of a sweaty??

Preumably work permits needed for all EU players as opposed to just those that are outside of the EU and/or in the EU but from outside the EU etc, if that makes sense! So only proven internationals from the better nations likely to get entry and we're not going to be likely to go for those!

Yeah it's a Europe thing https://www.skysports.com/transfer/...brom-transfer-plans-hit-by-brexit-regulations

edit: bit more here in the Fail https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...claims-scuppered-three-transfers-already.html

"New signings will require a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) from the FA, before they can apply for their visa to enter the country.

A similar system has been in place for players outside of the EU, who wanted to sign for UK clubs, but now it will apply to all non-UK footballers."

Like that comment tbh would agree I think the knee jerk is (me included) 2 points breaking records that’s making it far worse I question the players not Wilder
