Oh Clive ,looks like plenty of non existent police on that picture and forming the cordon for you. Now were they there or not ? I suppose if there is one set of people who should keep quiet about crushing it would be you ,but you just cant help yourself you fucking waste of space. The man who probably held Sheffield back more than any one person over the past 2 decades.
 
See he has made reference to 'aggressive United supporters' trying to get at his timid little Owls on the way into the ground as well.

No mention of the the obscenity and saliva wielding specimens that greeted Blades around and about Leppings Lane end last season eh?
 
A Wednesday fan at work who you can actually have reasonable conversations with (I KNOW) said coppers were trying to cram them into the ground, even though there was only two turnstiles open. So shouldn't this specimen be approaching the coppers rather than the club? Or was there a different crush?
 
... well 1988 - how many turnstiles were open is more likely the clubs doing than the Police isn't it?

although, if the other turnstiles weren't used because they were in what the Police had designated a united fan area, I take your point.

I think that SYP and the club DO need to have a serious rethink about big games at the Lane. Complicated ways to leave the ground do seem to lead to problems - for instance, what would happen if there were an need to evacuate the top of the Bramall Lane stand in an emergency ? would the Police allow United fans out at the John Street exits? or would they probably get muddled up and not let them out for fear of them mixing with Wednesdayites?

I think the way they Police these matches relies too much on Police action and not enough on just making the stadium inherently safe - to be used by people not shepherded about by the Police. The Hillsborough disaster came about because of an over-reliance on Police to make an inherently unsafe stadium work safely. The Police got it wrong and so the stadium failed.

Its not good enough that the stadium can only be used to 3000 fewer than its capacity for these matches - big vacant areas at the Bramall Lane end and a studio blocking views from the LHS of the Kop. I personally would have more away supporters in the Bramall Lane end so those gaps could be filled .... forget safe standing, thats how you improve the atmosphere at a match.

Best thing to do, give them 500 tickets and vet each of them.

Obviously due to the narrow corridor that they had to walk through, larger people won't be allowed. We can use this as an opportunity to tick an EFL box to promote better health amongst away fans.

- We can make them do a BMI assessment at the Sty before they set off, if they can find 500 pig fans with a healthy BMI they can come.
- They will then be asked to speed up to avoid being attacked by "aggressive United Supporters" and run to the lane. They need to be averaging 5:30min/km all the way, any drop in pace and they will be dragged out and beaten.
- Once at the ground, to comply with health, safety and hygiene rules, no pig fans will be allowed in with sweaty clothing and no shirtless fans allowed.

Did you hear the Rotherham fan on Blaydio Sheffield last night saying he hoped the police would take the netting down and just have a line of stewards so more fans could get in as they never have any problem with Sheff Utd fans.
 
I’d say most of the problems were caused by SYP as usual. What was the idea of putting the Berlin Wall up across John Street before the match forcing several thousand Blades through a six foot gap to get either to the kop or into The John St Stand. I asked Janet law who was standing against the wall why it was up and her only reply was “its the fans” repeated over and over despite my different questions. I can only assume they have been brainwashed by their superiors in the build up to the match.
I think there were more police, horses and vans on Bramall Lane before KO than pig fans. Total overkill as usual, I think they wind people up as much as the opposition.
Glad I won’t be going to the sty.
