Team for Villa

Robinson plays on the left and would never be selected ahead of Egan in the centre. Osborn is completely left sided and would never be chosen to play in Lunny’s position on the right.
Have you been watching the Blades in a mirror?
Would you pick jags ahead of Robinson at centre back against a pacey centre forward. I wouldn't. Not sure what CW would do.

I agree that Robinson won't be playing on the right but I don't see it makes much difference what foot you kick with in the middle.

As for Osborn, I'm saying I'd prefer to see him in the side than Lunny at the moment. I didn't say I'd like to see him at right midfield

This is the team.

Ramsdale
Stevens
Basham
Egan
O'Connell
Baldock
Norwood
Berge
Fleck
McGoldrick
McBurnie

Ampadu is Egan replacement

If we were going for that sort of line up though, McGoldrick would serve no purpose. He links midfield and attack, but if he is the attack, his main attribute is redundant. He has no end product in that he doesn’t score and doesn’t assist. We’d need an actual striker playing with that sort of set up.
I’ve picked that team because we’re obviously away from home and I’d love nothing more than to shithouse Villa and pile the pressure on them. Also after our tricky start at home a point away from home is not to be sniffed at in the premier league. We can change the system to how we want with a solid base. Burke can come on with 20 left to run them ragged on the counter.

Agreed from the very little I've seen. So Egan's suspended, and we play Chelsea. Who's your pick for central CB?
Well it's not Jags , who's playing days at this level are sadly over.
I dunno if Rodwell is capable coz I've never seen him play , but he's a bit younger.
The other idea would be to shift Bash inside and play Burke at RCB.
Or shift JoC inside and play Robinson at LCB ?
I would hope that Bash & JoC have not become so specialised as "side" CBs that they can't play anything else.

Fair enough. I still don't see why Robinson can't just be 3rd choice central centre back rather than move Bash and JOC out of their normal position or select a centre forward at RCB. Unless other people think he's shit.

In my eyes he's pacey, strong in the tackle and decent in the air. Not as good on the ball as JOC, so always going to be cover for that position I think. Playing centre may be all about seei g the danger and it's difficult to judge that by what we have seen.

Rammers
Baldock Ampadu Egan O’Connell Lowe
Berge Norwood Fleck
Didzy McBurnie

I'd like to see Lowe given the shirt at LWB, make it clear early doors positions are up for grabs and play well and you get the shirt.

Assume for Wilder the team near enough picks itself aligned to last year, with the exception of strikers. Think the McB & McG will get the nod.

Personally I'd be interested in see Ampadu in DMC as thought he passed between the lines reasonably well from CB against Burnley.

No formation change, please. It would be a very short term solution, but I think giving the Sharp and McGoldrick tandem a game, would be our best chance of getting a goal. We just to need to put the ball in the net for a couple of games and get the confidence and momentum flowing. Although it is not the role he has played in the past, I also think Berge is ideal for the RCM role, I want to see him up and around the opposition box as much as possible, where he actually has quality with his final ball and can go past people in the box. For sure, he would be a great DCM, but that can be for the future.

If Didsy is fit then he should come in for Sharp and if Berge is fit he should come in for Lunny.

I think we will play better than we did in the post lockdown game there but so will they. I’d take the same result we need to get something on the board even if it’s only a point.

Didzy has to start. Wouldn't be surprised if Villa come at us all guns blazing with their new £££ signings so it’d be nice to play Burke and at least have the threat of a counter attack. Berge on the right with Ampadu coming on for Norwood after 60/70 mins to freshen things up?

I expect him to go with the usual, albeit Berge and Norwood may start interchanging (which would be a very clever way of countering those teams who press the latter out of the game).

Ramsdale
Basham - Egan - O'Connell
Baldock - Berge - Norwood - Fleck - Stevens
McGoldrick - McBurnie

I think this'll be the team, but it'd be good to experiment with the WB's at some point especially if we are chasing the game.

Burke coming on late to stretch the game also looks promising.

We can’t start Billy and McBurnie, keep Billy on bench for last 20min if needed

I have a feeling Villa are going to win 2-0 scored by the two strikers we were interested in buying :(
