Not much love lost between the blades and canaries over the last couple of seasons, but after watching your last couple of games I felt compelled to come on here and say how impressed I’ve been.

I didn’t really expect either us or you to keep up this pace, it’s been relentless.

Wilder has done a brilliant job. Excellent football with a blend of grit and style.

Fair play blades. Whichever two clubs finish top 2 this season really will have earned it.
 

Got to be impressed with the way Norwich play. The movement and tempo they play at is excellent to watch even if for a team wanting automatic promotion they’re defence is piss poor. Agree with others that it would be a travesty if anyone other than the current top 3 went up but I have to say that despite our obvious dislike of Leeds over the years I’d rather go up with them in automatic (although looking unrealistic at the moment). The last couple of years tension between the two sides (after Norwich’s dreadful antics at the Lane last year) and the current apparent levels of over confidence/arrogance amongst there supporters not to mention the irritating German 70s porn star manager means plenty of Blades have grown to dislike them even more.

Good post. To be fair NC, SU and LU are by far the best teams in this league, it’s a shame that one will be forced into the play-offs.
It’s also telling that all 3 clubs rely on team function/ structure rather than individual talent.

An interesting thing happened yesterday which gave me some flashbacks from our game 2 years ago.

The Rotherham United fans were calling the Radio Sheffield phone-in
Saying how NC’s extreme gamesmanship is a disgrace to football and how they could never support a team like that.
They said that RU played really well but whenever they put pressure on NC, many NC would wait for the challenge, put their leg in the way of the ball, then go down rolling around in agony. They said the 2nd half was a farce with too much start..stop..start...stop.
They also said that Tim Krulh was time wasting the whole of the 2nd half and to rub salt in the wounds
At the final whistle the NC players were celebrating like they’d just beat Barcelona in the Nou Camp.

We played your team 2 years ago and in my 40 years watching United I’ve never seen such extreme time wasting from any team.
That day the ref amazingly only played 8 minutes of injury time but it should have been at least 15 minutes injury time.
Even your substitutions were taking ages for your players to leave the pitch, they all occurred when the player being substituted was in the far corner and whilst walking off one went round shaking the hands of other NC players, it seemed deliberate instructions to time waste. Also against us at the final whistle the NC staff celebrated like they’d just won the Champions League.

Can all these opposition fans just piss off? We are horrible shitty little Sheffield United. We cheat, we hoof it and we're not very nice. Our players were cheap and our wage bill is low so they are obviously shit. Our manager is classless and uncouth anything else is pure nonsense and an attempt to lull us into a false sense of security.
 
Yeah I don't like ass kissing from fans of direct opponents, I do like it when a random fan says I saw Sheff Utd on TV and they were ok, good, etc
 
Just to be clear, in case there was some confusion, I don’t like Sheffield United, I don’t like wilder, and I don’t want you to do well.

But your results have earned my respect.

We appreciate the grudging respect, you're not having any back as I don't know anything about how you play apart from the times you play against us and I wasn't convinced if I'm honest, you're obviously a decent team as you are top of the league but that's about it from me. I do know that we made a comedic song last season about the fact that you like to time waste so I assume you still do.

I was at that game, the one where we time wasted for a good 10 minutes. In fairness, its probably the most extreme example of time wasting I've ever seen from an English team too. Angus Gunn and James Maddison infuriated you, understandable.

Although its also the first time I've been to an away game where hooligans stormed the away exits and attacked visiting fans, with no regards to the women, children and elderly people who might have been trying to get out of them. Probably best that Sheffield United stop moaning about that game, considering several Norwich fans didn't get back on the coaches that evening and one had permanent brain injuries, agreed?

Seem to remember you trying to run down the clock to go home with the point at Carrow Road this season though, including your substitution in the 4th minute of injury time.... so lets not pretend that there are any managers who don't have this in their locker.

And I'd take those moaning Rotherham fans with a pinch of salt to be honest, there game plan was to breathe down our necks constantly and give us no time on the ball. Take this passage of play as an example, there are 4 occasions where the Norwich player could have taken the foul but we wanted to keep the ball moving.... find it a bit amusing that they think we go down easily, they looked like Tony Pulis's wet dream.



The entire game was like that.... Rotherham not giving us any time or space, Rotherham's smallest player looked about 6 foot.... they were set up to be physical against us. They are bitter that their game plan didn't quite work out, although it was a close game and it almost did.

I'm tempted to engage in a spot of doffing too, because they are a very well balanced team who are quick all over the pitch and full of good technical players. Everything's aligned for them, with the two full backs (and Godfrey) emerging and Pukki being an insanely good signing, with Buendia and Hernandez also great finds. Then Stiepermann has gone from bit part player to key player, which is an interesting turnaround but not entirely surprising for me as I liked the look of him at LWB last season.

I had the impression that they were no worse than anyone else for gamesmanship this season, but if they are still resorting to that it's a surprise, because surely they don't have to.

Could you go on a Millers forum and explain your teams exasperating time wasting tactics (again).
