Errrrrrrm what about the discount if we bring our own rubber bands in case the ones in the wankel engines break ?......
just asking like..

If those engines let go (and they will at some point) then you won't be needing any discount. Just ID and some up to date Dental Records.......

Is anyone else going on FlyCrab? Thought I'd take a punt.

You would get there quicker on a punt that one of The Crab planes. Tried em last year, yes technically it was a plane but it was towed overland by emaciated camels carrying some tacky ‘arf-n-‘arf scarf from some guy from swzzlerland, think his handle is SwissBlade

nice one pal. Did you book that Apartment I recommended?
We are there from 8th to 16th but still searching for accommodation
We're in one just the otherside of the supermarket from the one you recommended. That final review of the inside-theft and consequent shoulder shrugging spooked us i'm afraid. It's a shame because all the other reviews were top notch......

I made a killing on those ones too

We've stayed in those too. Really nice. If you have one facing the sea, then you you'll enjoy fantastic sunsets. We'll no doubt meet up for a beer or six

Getting a bit bored with the extremely late announcements on pre-season games now. It’s every year. And as I seem to state every time - if clubs like Oxford and Orient can plan these trips and announce them to fans in January, then so can we. We are Premier League now but the folk behind the planning/organising this stuff is very much non-league.

I think I’m not going to bother myself with Portugal this year in favour of a trip to Denmark to watch Enda, Egan and Didzy for the ROI. There is an actual schedule for that game - a date, kick off time, the lot.
Màte of mine been down to Lane today and asked about Portugal as we are waiting to book said nothing was yet confirmed

Well. If it's a "large Spanish club", played in a "large neutral stadium" in Portugal, then someone, somewhere will be looking to make money out of it. The Stadium owners will be angling for a cut, there'll be some media rights to sort out, either live TV or streaming, pitch side advertising, the FA, Premier League & their Spanish & Portuguese colleagues will have to sanction the game & give approval. I suspect, an agent may have got the basics together and spoken to the two clubs to get an in principle agreement in place. Those rumours will start doing the rounds. If nothing else, because the agent will want to demonstrate to TV, sponsors, advertisers, etc that there would be some interest in the fixture if it happens. Last, but not least, the clubs themselves will want some synchronised announcement. We're a Premier League outfit now, there'll always be some stand off about money. For the Club themselves, it's reasonably straightforward. They'll have booked the flights, hotel & training facilities. They're going. Now, they need to get the small print together for a game. The one in La Manga was effectively against a made up team of available non leaguers from the local area.

I've seen pre-season games in Portimao before - don't know if there are any other stadiums of any size on the Algarve?

Well. There is The Algarve Stadium near Loule, just outside Faro. I've seen England play a friendly there & it was used in the EURO Finals, holds more than Bramall Lane....

Portimao (Bela Vista) was the stadium used last year....worked quite well.

Still not booked. Would not be surprised if we get invited off somewhere else as a PL team. Why won’t club just confirm dates and location?
Perhaps its not all finalised yet. Location, time and date for the fixture

After the posts on here last year about players fighting etc I’d be taking them to Asia or somewhere like that for a private training camp before playing a couple of friendlies.

I didn't see any of that last year.

Great thing at the moment is that the club seems to be doing what it believes to be the best preparation for the new season.... i worry that once commercial offers come that we lose that, but we all know that Wilder will always push for the best for the club on the field before commercial

It will be our first time in Portugal and fancied somewhere a little quieter than I imagine Albufeira to be :)
It's definitely a lot quieter and less commercialised than Albufeira. Sadly they have built a few all-inclusive hotels which has somewhat spoilt the village. But there are still some nice restaurants and a lovely beach.
we went back 5 years ago and spent out 40th Wedding Anniversary there, although we had a good time it was not quite the same. Where are you staying in Olhos?

It’s a 3 bed villa quite near that big supermarket, looks nice :)

Thought it was a bit out of way although was booked on a coach and traffic took ages to clear after game for a few thousand
Hired a mini bus, in...2 hours...out.....back in Albufeira 30 minutes later. We will probably do the same if it’s in Portimao (or Faro).

Malcolm from the Cricks did a great job last year in organising buses to the game from the Erins Isle boozer, Albufeira.
Hoping that summat similar will happen this time around.

I've just booked Olhos for 8th - 16th July. Stayed here 8 or 9 times.
Never stayed in Velamar, as we usually book an apartment, but I've heard nowt but good things about it. Close to Vira's too (Vira Milho), which is a bonus.
