Jamal Lowe worth looking at from Pompey?

Great story. Risen from non league, part time - to becoming Portsmouth's main man in their promotion battle which looks like ending in failure.

Good age, decent amount of goals, exciting, rapid and improving.
Played upfront and out wide but I think he'd suit our style of play up front or just in behind.

I know we've gone up to the Prem but there are still a few League 1 players who could make the step up - we should know considering we have the base of our League 1 champions team still in place.

Came on as sub the other night and I thought he looked at his level. Not that quick and a bitbheadless Chicken.
Nowhere near good enough I’m afraid.

Keep saying it...player I’ve seen impress me the most is Mikey Johnston.
20 year old at Celtic, on the brink of being a big time player.
Surely he would want to play in the premier league over one or two tough games a season for celtic, and an early exit in the champions league against the runners up from Poland or somewhere?

If we were to break the bank for anyone, he would be it. This lad is going to be a top player. Sadly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brendon Rogers to be moving the earth to get him

The list of out-of-contract PL players looks a bit uninspiring.

Wouldn't mind seeing Alan Dzagoev at The Lane though.
I quite like Bruno Manga at Cardiff but it’s a position I’d like us to really strengthen at RCB rather than just a bit of decent competition. As do that we might as well have kept Cranie.

We’ll see because he’ll certainly be in the championship next season. He’s one of 3 or 4 Portsmouth are resigned to losing.

As for Johnstone we have no chance of signing any of Celtic’s better players. We aren’t established.

Steve Mounie - Huddersfield target man. Signed for £11.5m, was their record signing. Had a decent first season but a shocker this. Seems to have the ability, tick a number of boxes and be a candidate for our management to turn around. Point to prove. Needs a fresh start.

Anyone know how they think of him at Huddersfield?

We'll have to look at guys like him if McB is off to Brighton.

Kenneth Zohore is a prime example of the 'damaged goods' type who has all the attributes and just needs to find the right club. Tall, real all round athlete who can run in behind and shoot with power. At 25 he has time on his side. Anyone who gets him firing has a very good player.

One year left on his contract which adds to the sense of this and adds to probability that we'll be considering him.

As a second centre forward signing I think he'd be a great option.

Brad Smith and Junior Stanislas at Bournemouth will most likely be allowed to leave this summer.

Smith is a left back/left winger, so would be ideal competition for Stevens.

Stanislas, great dead-ball specialist, can play in any advanced role behind a striker, drifting in from either side and would allow us to be flexible with our formations.

Yeah agree.

I think we have to consider that, with Wilder in charge, we have a good chance of getting the 'best version' of any player who joins the club.

I see a lot of realistic propositions being rejected because they have some (non-financial) fault or other. I don't think we should judge a player by their lowest level of performance but by their highest, because I'm confident whatever that is, our management team can get it out of them.

Goals/Assists when known.

Keeper:

Henderson loan. ( Not sure Moore is good enough as Prem deputy)
Hart - wages problem.

Defenders:

Clarke Portsmouth Promising
Tomori loan ( if/when they don't go up) Promising

Midfield:

Celina /6 Quality - Norwood role
Klich /10 Quality, can play Duffy role
Hourihane /11 Norwood/ Fleck role. could be available, not quite 1st choice these days.
McGinn /9 Fleck role ( should Villa stay down)
Irvine Hull 6/1 Really good player. Aussie International
Saville

Wing back:

Lolley * 11/11
Grosicki 9/12 bit left field but he has great skill attributes and very effective
Snodgrass 31 years old but quality
Albrighton* could well be available
Naughton* would love him back, quality and would realise his potential playing for Wilder.

Duffy's role

Browne* Preston 12/5 Standout for me. strong competitor.
Jota /11 Not sure
Hernandez* 12/12 Standout
Powell 8/ Has pedigree
Freeman /6
Dack 15/7 Can't fully back him, depends on his attitude/ commitment. looks a Fancy Dan. So effective though for 3 seasons.
Maupay* 25/8 Quality

Strikers:

Hogan hunch there's a player there but his hot streak was fairly temporary and Smith knows him better than us. Pace.
Bowen 22/4 Can't argue with his stats over 2 years. Not seen much of him
Gayle 24/2 crazy wages/ maybe not a clubman. no worries about him in the Prem with our style. Pace.
McBurnie * 22/4 Standout
Gregory 10/7 under-rated 6'2" option. Hunch we'll get him
Adams 22/4 We'd get 25% cashback! Still not sure. Wilder brave enough though. Pace/strength. Better game awareness these days.
Robinson 12/ missed lot of games. Pace.

I'd love us to buy one of the best players at Leeds. Payback for all those years as their feeder club.

Lets say we sign a keeper, a central defender, a wing back, a No.10, two strikers.

Assume 2/3 on loan.

I don't think £20m will go that far, so a couple of signings have to be low cost transfer fees. If we sell a player the situation becomes more manageable. Wed still have to replace him though.
Spend £40m and watch us go!

Can't believe I omitted Marriott - love watching him. Intelligent, fast, quick feet, Scores for fun. Gets across the front of defenders time and again.

Matt Clarke at Portsmouth could be worth a look. 22 year old left footed CB who has been their POTY the last two seasons. Even if the step up is too big for him, he'd surely be better back up for O'Connell than Bryan (who never seems to be fit and probably needs a loan).
Clarke currently being courted by Brighton as a possible replacement for Dunk, who in turn is being lined up by Leicester as a possible replacement for Maguire.

Paul Onuachu

25 year old 6’7 target man striker playing in Denmark for FC Midtjylland scored 17 in 30 apps this season, recently broke into Nigeria’s national team. Looks fairly mobile has decent technique and many of his goals are smart poachers efforts. I can’t comment on the effectiveness of him in the build up but I’m gonna assume being an absolute giant with decent technique he can offer much like what Madine did with a bit more mobility and goal-threat.

Josh Dasilva

Keep an eye on this lad. Another Brentford gem. He'll be a revelation next season if he stays. He's playing for England at the Toulon tournament.

He's got the lot as a midfielder. Real all round athleticism, 6 foot, drives forward with the ball, tidy feet, not scared to put his foot in, left footed. He can even cover LWB. He was released by Arsenal last year (decent pedigree), Brentford picked him up and he broke into their team towards the end of the season.

If we wanted a great Fleck understudy and an asset who will get into the first team within a season or so then he's worth investing in.

Would Brentford entertain a sale now, knowing his value's unlikely to have peaked? Possibly not. But it's worth a go, because in a few months time he'll probably be out of our range.

Lowe possibly going to be made available from Bournemouth in the JTW.

Rate Dembele more. Lowe has the work rate though and that may appeal a lot to PH

I see Simms has been recalled by Everton. Does this mean either he or Maupay could be on their way to us? Just idly wondering.
