Could have walked away with a point in the end. Wasn’t expecting another miracle result today anyway, onto West Brom now.

It’s all about West Brom now. It is essential that we build on the last two performances and put West Brom to the sword. Then and only then will we know if we truly turned a corner ...

Frustrating as we could have snatched something there! No disgrace losing 1-0. This lot smash teams quite easily.

When you open your mouth normally, does shit always spew out? Or do you just save it for posts on here?
Nice one, really clever.

They didn't really have to get out of second gear. Every time we had the ball we gave it them back. But that's a function of them being miles better footballers, which we all knew. If you think we laid a glove on them, at all, you're kidding yourself. Not really a criticism, they are very good.

Fair point re WBA, but that was exceptionally comfortable for them.

Well done Ramsdale for some good saves too, particularly the Jesus effort.

Closer game than expected. They weren't very cohesive going forward and we defended well. We created very little though and one goal was always going to be enough. We crowded their attacks out well when they came through the middle.

Ramsdale - 6 - One good save at the end and some standard saves. Loses a mark for dropping the cross Jesus almost got on the end of, but recovered quickly
Bogle - 5 - Playing on his wrong side but should have done better for the first and gave the ball away again badly after that. Got better but didn't really get forward much
Ampadu - 4 - Weak again for the goal. Tentative and lacks determination. Had a couple more bad moments but got better after the break
Egan - 6 - Charged forwards late on and lost the ball. Not at his best first half but sharpened up as the game went on
Basham - 6 - Ok, fairly unremarkable but not a bad thing against a team like City
Norwood - 5 - Got booked as per usual. Lucky on another couple of occasions
Fleck - 5 - Got caught in possession and couple of times and was too slow to react. Great shot just wide
Lundstram - 6 - Solid and strong in defence. Slowed a couple of attacks down though, but our best all-round midfield
Brewster - 3 - Largely anonymous. Had one really good turn and shot but offered nothing whatsoever
Burke - 6 - Held it up better than usual and won a fair few headers but still a bit hit and miss. If too ponderous going forward. Needs to back himself

Subs

McGoldrick - 5 - Largely ineffective and had to drop far too deep.
Sharp - 6 - Made a nuisance of himself and won a few free kicks. Chested down well for the Fleck chance
McBurnie - 5.5 - Got stuck in and made his presence felt but nothing really came off

Wilder - 6 - Surprised he changed both strikers after winning last time out and playing Brewster backfired. As probably did playing Bogle (not sure I want him on the left ahead of Lowe tbh.

Ramsdale was outstanding in the 2nd half. made 3 cracking saves. defence as a whole was very good. disappointing the poor goal we conceded because when you have 2 on 1 then should been cleared but 1 mistake is excusable considering that they never capitulated

but id call that a successful week. 1 of our best. if you'd told me after the 2019 FA cup final a few weeks after we secured promotion. that in the 4 games v Man City we would only conceded 5 goals. i wouldve been very relieved. as Guardiola has destroyed better teams than us

Shurrup , for all their possession they had to work hard for that !

Clueless.

Not knocking our effort, but they didn't have to work hard for it. Go one up from some weak defending and then coasted the rest of the game.

One of the posts above listed all their recent games with them scoring more goals. In all but one of those games, including Cheltenham and Birmingham, only WBA had less possession than us today. It's great that it wasn't a bigger margin but ultimately still zero points. To be expected against players of that quality.

I don't think I'll be alone in being baffled how you've rated Lundstram the best of our midfielders.

Nice to see your positivity :mad:

Was important we didnt get battered today. I think and hope the lads will see that as a good display (i thought it was) and the momentum keeps rolling.

I’d say both teams got what they wanted: three points for them, damage limitation for us. Didn’t make for great viewing. But we should be reasonably confident going into the WBA game.

This Fans React video contains lines such as:

"Like a creep ogling over cleavage we saw plenty of dribbling."

And

"If Foden was an air-cushioned amphibious craft capable of travelling over land, water, ice, and other surfaces he’d be a Hovercraft."

WATCH:

Midfield is absolute rank. Slow to close down and not eager enough to get on the ball. When they do get on it the support runs through the middle is not there. It's embarrassing to watch Fulham move it around the pitch without any pressure.
