Lunstrum - the problem?

Really wanting to play for the team should only be a small factor in actually getting picked.
Indeed. I really want to play for Sheff United but at 32 and a Sunday league level player I think I need a bit more 🤣

This is a joke, isn’t it?
Apparently Wilder has asked for a new laptop with a copy of FM21 on it from Santa, he's keen to get himself up to the same level as those that keep telling him how to do his job better and he wants to know who the next Freddy Adu is without having to speak to his recruitment team.

Where did i say players were ahead of him is his position? I stated that he's getting a place in the SQUAD (key word there) whilst players like Billy aren't. Whats the point in that when in the near future we won't be able to call upon his services?

As for the head our of arse comment, grow up 😂 you really do look silly! Fancy me stating my blades opinion on a blades discussion forum. Whatever next.
Billy is competing with McBurnie, Brewster, McGoldrick, Burke and now Moose for a squad place. If we're starting Berge, Norwood & Fleck then Lundstram is the only realistic option to do the RM job when Norwood runs out of steam.
Why did we keep picking Henderson at the end of last season even though it was obvious he was leaving? Because he was the best available in that position. Same with Lundstram. He's made some mistakes and missed chances this season, but I'm not sure I see a lack of commitment from him?

Agree with you about him being one of our better options but my theory is coming from a players perspective. Not sure why people are gettng so up tight about my personal opinion but flattered that they deem it so important!

The point I'm making is that we are bottom with 1 point. There have been posts (be it bullshit or not) pointing to Wilder falling out with Billy and also suggesting he has lost the dressing room. Something has changed between now and ore lockdown. Whether that be because of fans, dressing room unrest or something else only a select few inside the club know the full story, and anything else is speculation. I have posted my opinion on this discussion board and welcome debate but not the outright witch hunts that seem to unfurl on a regular basis!

Not saying that is the case with your post mate hence my reply

In my view it rangles that Lunny is still being picked when he doesnt want to be here anymore.

It sends a poor message to the rest of the squad, and for people like Osborn who want to be here, it takes the piss.

I have seen a lot of people in work places work their notice and none of them put in the same effort that they did before they wanted to leave.

Lunny isnt that good. He played really well for the first half of last season but has been crap since. Get rid.

It's really suprised me this as I thought Wilder was better than this, hence getting shot of Duffy who was excellent for us.

Because it's not really an opinion, just pure speculation with nothing to back it up.

Duffy went to wilder asking for a better deal.
Lundstram was offered a new deal as his current one was running down. He didn’t accept the new deal.

To my understanding, Lundstram hasn’t done anything wrong, he remains contracted and is entitled to work his contract

I'm just going to pull you up for this
Wilder deemed Duffy to be not good enough to justify his request for increased wages
Nobody knows what happened between Duffy and Wilder/Knill the 3 people in the room when Duffy went to talk contracts (this from Duffy's mouth) but from the same article Duffy says he never even had the chance to talk about money because Wilder had seen him off before he could get to that bit. I wasn't there but that sounds truthful enough for me to believe, if one of the other 2 dispute it I'll revise my view.

Written by people who spend too much time playing on FM and not enough time engaging with real life.

If you’re a kid or a student fair enough, if not then trying to convince people that FM helps real life managers do their job is a bit sad.

Or he does want to be here but he doesnt think we are offering what he believes the is worth.
Wilder has already stated that if he had signed the contract on offer it would have put him in the top “4 or 5” earners at the club. He will surely know the average premier league wage we are paying

So presumably Wilder didn't think that Duffy's value to the squad justified any increase in wages.

My god this is straw clutchingly silly.. We have absolutely no insight whatsoever, but let's wildly speculate eh. Dear God.

Well, not exactly. We know he's not signing a new contract, so is basically working his ticket and awaiting a lifeline thrown from another PL club so he can go and warm the bench elsewhere - because he's reckons he is that good. What we also know is that for a fleeting moment early last season, he seemed to be what he thinks he is - a midfield powerhouse. Since the second half v Man U at the Lane however when they basically bypassed him and went 2-3 ahead, he's been a bit bobbar, hence Wilder bringing Berge into the team. What is fuelling his fire, and this debate, is that since O'Connell's injury and Henderson's exit and the whole team's collapse into shitness, suddenly Lundstram has become indispensable. I ask all to look exactly what he actually brings and contextualise that with the state of the playing squad and ask yourselves, 'are we being a bit needy eulogising and lionising mediocrity?'

Agreed. But if someone else is offering more for next season he will, as most players will, go to the highest bidder.
As it stands, he is honouring his contract and not causing problems I assume( or Wilder wouldn't play him) . I cant see why there is so much hate for him as he hasnt done anything wrong ( in terms of the contract situation)

Probably not since he got rid of him before they got to talk about that but the point being Duffy never got to ask, he'd gone to see him principally about a contract extension since he had less than a year on his contract.

I think it's about people trying to prove they're a bigger Blade than Lunny.
And before someone points it out, I already know.

was on footy manager 2021 and most of our squad (except newer additions) are on 25k per week. Is he really suggesting he is worth more than that

He’ll get 60K a week at West Ham.....the rumour in London is Moyes (knows him from his Everton days) is interested...suspect it’s already lined up.

When you look at the bigger picture....you can totally understand why Lundstrum wouldn’t sign a contract.
He’s lucky in that his reputation is much better than his actual ability....most pundits and fans of other clubs think he ‘s one of our best players.
Don’t think they realise how much he struggled settling in to Championship level.

Lunny won’t have made much money from the game...so he’s probably planning to strike whilst the iron is hot..
..dont blame him wanting a bumper contract that sets him up for life.

But he actually is one of our best players!
This is only my opinion...
Who is actually better and why? If disagreeing it would be good to back answers up with some stats!
I'd suggest he covers more ground, creates more chances, breaks up oppo play
and scores or assists more than most others in our squad...

It's not hate. It's opprobrium, given he's refused to sign a contract with us, as a PL club, obviously thinking someone better will swoop in and have him away. Well, good luck with that Lunny. You've not exactly been pulling trees up in the middle of the park and even when not picked, isn't exactly as missed as JOC or Hendo.

And? it was a player who we had in the squad who openly said he didnt want to be their next season because he wanted to move on? the same with lundstrum
Whatever a LOAN player does or says, you have no control over, his parent club has that control, anyone with an ounce of savvy would understand that.

Deano a player that decided he wanted to move on,back to his parent club and try and become No1 at arguably the biggest club in the world playing in Europe, yeh he is a bit of a cunt for wanting that int he.

Who is this player you refer to as Lundstrum ? ffs.

AgreeD. Problem Wilder has is that he is ahead on Norward in terms of team selection which means he starts if Ampadu plays LCB

I agree that there are multiple reasons as to why it's all gone pear shaped since lockdown, but the main reason must be the loss of O'Connell and the constantly changing defence. I know Henderson is a better keeper than Ramsdale but we'll never know how many goals we would have conceded this season with Henderson but no O'connell.
