In answer to the O/P...i think it's between United and Leeds to go up with Norwich now ,as they have the easiest run in,but who knows hopefully they slip up tonight.
As for Saturday,we'll be coming for 3 points as we always do...Madine is a miss, but not as much as Roofe for you...Massive game for both sides,2 attacking sides so should be a good game, and confident we can get a result.

I don't see it that way - easier is purely based on position, but me, we'll I'd rather play a QPR or a Blackburn with 3/4 games to go over Milwall or Rotherham for example.

Hello:)

Anybody else absolutely dreading Saturday?

Shouldn't be, both in great form, not conceding goals, scoring well, winning well, but even so its awful:D

How the hell do you win 2-0 with 10 men for an hour? Was the goalie brilliant? Were Brentford wasteful? Very impressive. Incidentally i saw that with 10 men 2 strikers came on, thats mental :D

So yeah, stupid question really but happy so far with the season? Where did you expect to finish before the first game?

Us you and Norwich really by rights should go up automatically, but only 2 of us can, which 2 do you think?

How do you see Saturday going most importantly of all?

I see Norwood did avoid the booking so he is available, Madine isnt, big blow?

Thanks in advance for responses.

Cjay:)

I left my wallet in a Wetherspoons in Leeds in 2003, if you see it around hold on to it for me.

Sorry CJay, you’re a decent poster but from now until Satdi neet you’re the enemy so I’m afraid I’ll have to respectfully tell you to piss off.

Yeah,i just can't see them slippng up SM,but a few twists and turns yet.

Talksport are currently asking the question "Are Leeds the most entertaining side to EVER play outside the top flight"
Presumably the idiot twins Durham and Gough? Durham’s so full of shit he’d make a good MP. Goughie does little to dispel the notion that Yorkshiremen are a bit thick, which isn’t great for Yorkshiremen living down south.

Don’t be nervous CJ, nothing is decided this weekend mate..

Durham said he watched them last night and he's seen them before and that they are absolutely brilliant.

Goalie shit. Brentford battered us. Extremely unhappy, wilder out! 24th. You and Norwich (we will fall away) 5 0 to you. Massive blow, our best player by far.
Ill be sure to pass that all on to Mr Bielsa, set pieces, any idea about how those drills are going this week?

Very happy with the season so far. Even if we finish in the playoffs and fuck it up, it's still a good season once you look at the bigger picture. Im hopeful that we'll sneak up straight away though, and (dare i say it) think we could win the playoffs anyway.

I'd like us and Leeds to go up. I live in Beeston so I'm close to Elland Road and it'd be good to have Premiership football so close. Also think it'd be good to have two proper Yorkshire clubs up there.

I wish we'd drawn at home. Fucking gutted by that end to the game, but it's just one of those things and Hendo has been great for us on the whole.

I think I'd take a draw now but i just hope for an exciting game. I was going to take a lad from the local area but tickets sold out very quickly so we're watching it on telly instead.

Madine is a blow as i think he'd have started on Saturday, but it's not as big a blow as Norwood would have been.

I'm hopeful we can sneak a win. Draw is fine by me though as it keeps it wide open.

Yeah we didnt deserve to win the away game, very even game decided by a mistake, id take that again. I have a feeling someone will win, just a gut instinct, not sure why. Saw you vs Wendies and thought Madine made you go overly direct tbh, id [prefer McGoldrick or Sharp were out but hey ho.

I'll bite.

Against Brentford we rode our luck for about 40 minutes and it stayed 1-0 due to a combination of good saves, good luck, and incredible last-ditch defending. I did always fancy us to score or at least threaten again as they looked soft as shit at the back. For the last 20 minutes we clawed our way back into the game and it looked like they'd run out of ideas. Lots of their shots were from distance. The second goal was icing on the cake.

I said at the beginning of the season that I thought we'd be in the mix for the play offs--realistically I thought we'd be in a battle for 6th place. So obviously the season has exceeded all expectations. I think that on our day we're the best team in the division but a dodgy spell in November and December may end up costing us automatic promotion.

No idea what to expect on Saturday. The game at our place was very even, decided by a freak goal. I'd be surprised if this one wasn't pretty tight as well.

Madine has done well for us, it's a blow to lose him for three games. But our best strike partnership has remained Sharp and McGoldrick; they have great chemistry together and our best performances have come with both of them in the team.

Ah ok did wonder if a lot of the shots were from distance, 29 seemed a heck of a lot with only 4 on target for them to be decent chances, fair play.

You were more confident about your chances then i was about ours, i had us down for midtable, had you down about where you say, playoffs.

Thought the game at yours was good tbf, most of the time you build up these games in your mind and they end up being crap, hopefully this one is the same (with the same result). :)

Good player Madine, always thought of him as a bit of a cart horse but he gave us nightmares when he played for Bolton against us a season or two ago, pleased he is out as it takes away that more direct option i would assume?

Thanks for the response.

Big game for both teams and although it could be a deciding factor for the outcome of the season in terms of promotion, with Leeds and the Blades on a role at the moment I can see it being a boring 0-0! :(
I hope I'm wrong
I think you will be wrong :D

Dont know why, just got a feeling there will be goals and drama.

Ill be sure to pass that all on to Mr Bielsa, set pieces, any idea about how those drills are going this week?
For one game only, knowing Bielsa was spying on us,we decided to be shit at defending short corners...it won't happen again though.

Aye up Cjay. As a blade living in Farsley with shit loads of Leeds mates, I’d love it if we both went up. Norwich are really annoying me for some reason.

I’ll be going in the hospitality in the new(ish) stand and really looking forward to it. It’ll be a cracking game and if truth be told I’d settle for a draw.

The Brentford game was one of the performances of the season Cjay. Bodies thrown in front of shots, a goalkeeper on his A game and a manager with the balls to go 2 up top with 10 men.

This is only my opinion but I’m glad Madine isn’t available. I’ve not been totally happy with the number of options available and the changes being regularly made. Hopefully with Madine out we’ll play Sharp and McGoldrick.

Developed a bit of a hatred for Norwich which wasnt there before (even though they used to nick all our players), think its all those late goals they got, that weird period where they seemed to be losing till the 90th minute then scoring, thats really infuriating.

Hope you enjoy it, never been in the hospitality at Elland Road..

Ah blood and guts sort of thing? Bodies on the line, tackles flying in etc, i was convinced you would lose after Madine went off, then saw the stats and looked like you were getting battered, full credit to Wilder, 2 strikers coming on is brave.

Can understand that, you have Scott Hogan to dont you? But no Madine means no direct threat? thats a blow isnt it?

Agree largely with this, although I'm not sorry to lose Madine if I'm honest . As for dreading the game, when you've been 6 years in the pub league, a game this big, which could go a long way to deciding promotions, is certainly not to be dreaded. We dreamed of such a game only 2 seasons ago
.Be afraid young Cjay. ;):shark:

Fair point, i tend not to get nervous, but certain games feel more important then the rest.

Not really to be honest mate, events in my life mean I don't dread a football game anymore. I used to though!

Literally no idea. Yes he was, yes they were, yes it is!

I'm delighted with the season, given the means at CW's disposal, tremendous effort by all. I'd hoped for top 6 based on the season before.

Obviously I'd love a win, but my head says score draw.

Hmmmm, a bit of blow, but I think we've got that covered.

All the best after Saturday. Never thought I'd say this but I'd rather it was us and you than Norwich.
Somethings are more important then football of course.

Do you worry that if you dont get up then there is a chance someone will take Wilder off you? Understand you are his club but everyone has ambitions? ( Genuine question not trying to annoy anyone, personally terrified if we dont go up Bielsa will sod off).

You do have quite a few strikers tbf, must be nice . . . . . . . .

Nope.

No it isn’t, it’s part and parcel of being at the business end of the table, at the business end of the season.

Cos we are fookin ace.
Nope.
Yep.

Yep.
Top 6.

Yous and Narwich. But only just. Might change my mind on this at about 14:30 on Satdi ;)

If we get a draw I’d be happy. Yous start slight favourites.

Nope ;).

We are slowly getting over our pessimism, with Wilder seemingly able to turn things round each time disaster is about to strike. So if we let an early goal in, we'll all be depressed and Wilder will just regard it as another problem to solve.

Signings have been good this season, and we have much better backup; but I don't think many of us expected us to be challenging for automatic promotion. We now feel we are there on merit.
I thought you would fade during your iffy spell, but there is the potential for a good battle between 2 in-form sides. We are likely to have some tired legs after last night, and the loss of Madine reduces our options. But it should not affect PlanA.

Welcome back. It is good to have a challenge to stereotypes.

I know WIlder seems to be very good at solving problems put in front of him, but if we score first i dont think he will solve that, our record is exceptional after scoring first, be interesting to see though.

Was impressed with your January business, felt you lacked a bit of variety in the final 3rd, Dowell and Madine fixed that, smart business.

I thought we would fade to, given our injuries, the style, the amount of games, pleasantly surprised tbh. Yesterday gives us more hope, you played very well but that must have taken a lot our of your players, wonder if you will make changes?

Thanks i quite enjoy this forum , its busy.

"Us and Norwich by rights......???"

Ooooh reallllly? Smacks of arrogance, but hey ho, nothing changes, and those who feel entitled often see themselves as the division's royalty, until that is the peasants decide you've fleeced them long enough.

Should be an interesting game on Saturday. Not sure it'll be the 'must watch' affair that Sky builds it up as, but it will be tense, and attention to detail and the willingness to unsettle the other side will go a long way in determining who wins.....unless it's a draw.

I think it will be the most exciting game of the weekend, just a feeling.

Normally dislike Leeds United but you’ve served your time in the doldrums so wouldn’t mind you club coming up instead of Norwich. The Norwich fans have already accepted they will top the league so it would be hiliarious to see them have a poor run and miss out.

Regards the match don’t feel too nervous and feel fairly confident we won’t lose.
If I had to bet money I’d go for a 1-1 draw (of course I’d accept a draw) but have a sneaky feeling it might be a 2-1 Blades win.

If Leeds United play well, dominate and win, then no complaints from me.
Always believe that the best teams deserve to be promoted.

Ill be sure to pass that all on to Mr Bielsa, set pieces, any idea about how those drills are going this week?

No need to tell him anything of the sort.
The head cheat will have his spies in place in and around our training ground along with his drones and spy satellites!

For a team with such lovely build up play they seemed far too content to go for pot shots from the edge of the box over the extra pass. I suppose teams get criticised the other way round if they'd tried to pass it in the net and not scored but 29 shots and only 5 on target tells you what you need to know. As with all wins in those circumstances it was one part luck and five parts sheer determination.

I expected us struggle this season. I didn't think we'd strengthened enough, I didn't think some of the signings we made would be good enough. McGoldrick's proven to be a far better player than I thought, Norwood is one of my favourite players for years, and the squad players like Cranie have got us through some tough injuries and suspensions. People seem to think we're playing above ourselves and I keep seeing the same players putting out consistent performances.

Weirdly, I'm not that panicked about Saturday's game. We're doing far better than I expected, far better than our budget should suggest, and we're great to watch. I'll take anything that comes this season. Normally I'd worry about losing face or missing out on a top two spot but I really do look forward to every game at the moment.

I think both sets of fans have the usual types grossly underestimating the opposition. Neither team's manager will be that naive. The reason I think it'll be a great game is because both teams will try to win it and both will try to do it by playing good passing football. Should be a cracker.

Something is wrong with Brentford away from home, taking nothing away from your win but for some reason they really struggle away from home, the home record is great, up there with us and you, but away from home they suck, its odd, good to watch though.

I think to the outsider your signings were a bit meh, good players, but you still lacked a bit extra, think you fixed that in January and if you get up imo your January business will be a large part of why.

Sign of a very good manager, should you on paper be top 3? Probably not, like us, there are better squads on paper out there, but fortunately for us, you and Norwich tbf we happen to have 3 of the best managers and its nice to see the underdogs in a way getting the credit.

Wish i could be like you, if this game wasnt so close to the end i could probably relax a bit more, but it just seems a vital game near the end of a brilliant season. In reality though a loss isnt going to make much difference, we both are almost certainly secure in the playoffs (which would represent a good season anyway), ok maybe Norwich get a bit of a gap at the top but 2nd will still be there.

Yeah i think thats fair, some of our fans are riding high at the moment and given we have beaten 2 of the top 6 teams in the last week or so thats understandable, feeling untouchable, and you havent conceded in ages and are actually above us in the form table so why would you be fearful either.

Should be an exciting game

So is ours :)

I’d be more than happpy with a draw.
Last night was backs to the wall defending for long periods and bringing the two forwards on helped to stop the
ball coming straight back from our clearances and was just what was needed.
Losing Madine will take away options to change the game but our front two have served us well so far so not too worried about that.
I think Norwich will go up so it will most likely be one of us two for the other place.
Smart that, i hadnt considered that, giving the defence a rest by bringing on forwards, very good.

Ah come on, one of us will catch them, i have a feeling.
