I don't trust Wilder

Our best midfield is Coutts, Fleck and Duffy. When one is out injured, why bench one of the others?

Mystifying.

Love you to bits but sorry Chris, this one’s on you mate. Poor team selection.

If you think Woodburn is better than Duffy, fine, but Lundstram?

Mate, we were 1-0 up?!?!?

If you think the problems are further forward than the 5 chaps who are paid to defend, then you're barking up the wrong tree my friend....

Miles off. Were you at Millwall, Preston, Hull, Birmingham last season? Just off top of my head

Context matters though. This was opening game, at home, on TV after “one of our best transfer windows ever” and yet the team selection was defensive, performance was slow and tepid, and the same suspect players and formation weaknesses we’ve bemoaned since December 17 are all back with a vengeance.

Agree entirely .

In each of the games I quoted above United were chasing promotion/at least the play-offs and didn’t turn up. Conversely this was an opening day game with inevitable ring rust against a team who could have gone either way and still ended the game with a number of players we’d all take in a heartbeat. 45 games left to play. I know which disappointed me more

Whilst I can see where you’re coming from, is it not painfully clear that, including tonight’s game and those you mentioned, poor performances and dropped points were the result of half a dozen issues, that while pretty obvious, still haven’t been rectified? We can split hairs over which performance was worse, but since December it’s fair to say, in general:

- Our wingbacks (Stephens in particular) have offered little attacking threat.
- We’ve stopped ‘going after’ teams.
- We’ve dropped the attacking midfielder role.
- Wilder has played favourites and been slow to react when games are going against us.
- We lack a legitimate plan B.
- The first 11 lacks pace.

Agree?

8 months without Coutts and still pretending we can play 352 with Lundvans supposedly controlling things. Because they're worse than Donty, big holes on the edges for wide players with pace (wow imagine that) to exploit.

I await the backlash , but how much longer are we prepared to chuck three points away whenever we take the lead and pretend there's nothing wrong?
Well I'll tel you what...lets go back to fcukin clough or adkins back in league 1.....wanker post....

Well go and support other fcukin outfit at s6 cunt!!

Wilder is McCabe, McCabe is Wilder. The pair will not take us further.

Sells our best midfielder and replaces with a defender.

We needed to replace Brooks. But didn’t.

Unless Sharp and Clarke can muster another season ( doubtful) who have we got up front?

Firstly, Brooks isn’t a midfielder. Secondly, Brooks wasn’t (or wouldn’t have been) our best midfielder even if he was a midfielder. That’s Fleck.

And it’s not like they’ve sussed us out. According to CW.

We needed to attack. Instead we sat deep with Lundstram and Evans. He's out thinking himself. Just play your best players
Lunny and Evans eh? I bet, given a choice, them two would love to run backwards towards the Kop with the ball, run right up the steps to the top of the Kop, then down the other side and come out on Shoreham street with it, then head off down Queens Road and keep going as far away from the goal as possible. Pair of negative, backward passing, 3 yard specialists we have there.

To be fair, he’s probably right. I mean the best sides in the world don’t typically win games by surprising the opposition with a weird formation. Take Swansea, they were fairly poor and it wasn’t any kind of tactical masterclass. Us in full swing 18 months ago would have swept them away first half. We resemble a boxer that’s lost his nerve after taking a clean shot. When we ‘didn’t respect’ the Championship we looked a dangerous side.

That's a really well argued post. Well done.
Yeah it is...it's best i can do...prick...it annoys the fcuk out of me specially after 1 game that people are ripping our manager, team and club apart....don't you know what were about...through thick and thin and all that shit,4th division,3rd division 2nd division, league 1 championship, premiership it doesn't matter were all blades aren't we?

Again - not one game. The performance tonight had all the same issues, tactical problems, questionable team selections etc that’s been brewing for over 20 games now and not being addressed. A frustration percolated by a pre-season and transfer window to sort these problems out, yet the same mistakes being made in game one. Nobody’s talking about sacking or not supporting the team. Just airing legitimate grievances.

Well it looks thats way don't it?
Look we've both got different opinions, lets leave it that,i don't like being belittled behind a keyboard and i will fight my own corner also utds, because there my tean from over 40yr and as i said through thick and thin.

Do i know where we’ve come from? Eh yeah. Do I expect us to be Man Utd? Eh no. We went top of the league in November by playing expansive, attractive, attack-minded football. Our starting 11 included our most creative players, geared to attack sides and overwhelm them. I expected us to continue to play in that manner, even if results didn’t go our way.

We’ve stopped playing expansive, attack-minded football and stopped starting our most creative players. We no longer gear up to attack sides, and now play a much more conservative type of football which in my eyes both doesn’t suit us, and has seen our results fall off a cliff.

I don’t think we’ve been sussed out by sides in general. I think our way of playing has changed for the worse and we’ve lost our nerve a bit. I just don’t know why.

Who belittled you?? I think you were the one throwing out “pricks” and “cunts” in the first instance mate. You can make your counterpoint without resorting to that.

Well ill tell you what raul...you can have the moral high ground.

Picked the wrong starting line-up and made the wrong substitutions. Bad day at the office.

Wrong tactics, not selection. Not helped by all the central midfield three being poor, as well as one wing back, two defenders and one forward. They're selected, they have instructions and it's not working. As has been said. A continuation of last season.
