Half term report – League Only
Our Boxing Day meeting with Watford (1-1) marked the halfway point in our season back in the Premier League. So where do we stand?
Our recent (2017-18) ‘first season back’ in the Championship saw us start with losing our first two matches (Brentford - H) and Middlesbrough - A), before ‘finding our feet’. Indeed, we would spend the first half of that season in the top six (actually topping the table after our win at Leeds on October 27th).
We would eventually finish the season in a very creditable tenth place which may be seen by some as ‘disappointing’. The current season has (so far) followed a similar trajectory but there the similarities end.
We are now competing in the ‘best/richest league in the world’ where our sustained presence in the top flight will cement our status for years to come. As I write, we have managed to get crucial points ‘in the bag’ making a nervous end to this season unlikely.

Whatever happens now, this has been an excellent ‘first season back’:
