Swiss international striker (23). Signed for West Ham last summer for £8m and made just 9 substitute appearances without scoring a goal. Is he the latest in a long line of good players to join them and fail miserably?

Prior to his stint at West Ham he had scored 29 in 48 starts for Basel and 13 in 27 at St. Gallen.

Anyway Celtic have signed him for £4.5m - seems like a steal based on his previous form.

HammerInPeace - any insight as to why it didn't work out? He'd had 15 & 17 goal seasons for Basel before he came over here.

"Ajeti was supposed to provide cover for Sébastien Haller after joining West Ham, who needed to reshape their attack after losing Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Javier Hernández last summer, but he has rarely looked up to the required standard. Manuel Pellegrini barely used the 23-year-old, restricting him to two starts in the League Cup and a handful of cameo appearances in the league, and the 23-year-old’s situation has not improved since the Chilean was replaced as manager by Moyes in December.

Any hopes Ajeti had of a fresh opportunity under Moyes disappeared after he failed to impress after being handed a rare start when West Ham lost to West Brom in the FA Cup in January. He would not feature again until making his ninth and final substitute appearance in the league during West Ham’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley this month."

dc_blade pretty much nailed it.
The general consensus was that while with us, the very few times that he played, he was awful! Certainly didn't look like he could contribute anything to our 'anti-relegation' campaign..
It's a weird one isn't it? Swiss int, he CAN obviously play & knock them in. Maybe the PL was just too different for him.
Or, he succumbed to the curse of the Rotting Ballbag (aka David Sullivan)..
Anyhow, I wish him well & hope he does the business at Celtic.
