Gameweek 1 officials revealed and we have Kevin friend reffing our first game. What sort of a reputation dose he have and what do people think?

As always, the identity of the referee will have no bearing on the outcome of the football match.

As always ?
You don't remember our game v Liverpool the last time we got back in the top league
Or the time before when Ian rush' s studs obliterated Simon Tracey's face ?
Or countless other examples ?

Pretends not to see certain things, otherwise fairly average. VAR will be a challenge for him especially in the penalty area.

All irrelevant.

When we play Bournemouth on Saturday the team that plays the best will win.

The referee is just a bloke who blows a whistle and points at corner flags.

What’s with the assistant VAR? How many does it take to sit in a room and watch a replay

Last 5 games refereed of ours:
Walsall at home EFL Cup Aug 2017 (a 3-2 win that broke the Walsall curse)
Wolves home L1 Mar 2014 (2-0 loss)
Coventry away L1 Oct 2013 (3-2 loss)
Hull away Chp Oct 2010 (1-0 win)
Reading away Chp Apr 2009 (1-0 win)

Has given us a penalty before (in that awful 3-2 QPR game in the promotion season where Ifill missed and Horsfield was appalling).

Has sent a player of ours off before – Mike Whitlow in our 1-0 win at Crewe in Friend’s first season.

Do you mean because of VAR?
Or are you suggesting that refereeing decisions have no influence on the outcome of a game?

Neither.

I'm saying referees very rarely directly effect the result of any match.

At the end of the season the best team will be 1st and the worst three teams will be 18th, 19th and 20th.

Nothing to do with referees.
